Griots 6" DA polisher...

I have been contemplating getting a DA polisher. I really thought i was going to get the PC 7424xp, until all the great reviews on the Griots. I don't know what to do I guess I can't go wrong with either.
.

My advice would be to go with the GG6. Mainly because it's more powerful, has a lifetime warranty, and it will stay with you as you learn. Where as the PC IMO you will outgrow, and eventually you'll want more power.

I feel I can do a lot more, and quicker with the GG6. The PC has been a great tool...but I feel it has it's limitations, and it struggles with compound.

It's nice to hear that your review of the Griot's garage 6" dovetailed with the impression that I have of it as a polisher. I was like you very impressed with the quality, workmanship, and the amazing results obtained when using it. I haven't tried the Porter Cable and couldn't offer an opinion of which of the two is better, but I am satisfied with what I get when I use my polisher. Next stop for me will be a rotary, I just haven't decided which would be the best for me to choose. Good luck and happy polishing.

I've been using the Makita rotary for about 10 years. The SAME Makita I might add. I can't say enough about it...it works really well, and has been the most reliable tool I've ever owned.

I've had the GG6" for about 2 years. I was using over Thanksgiving and the black head casing became loose. It turns out, the screw/bolt that connects the motor casing to the black head had sheared in two.

I called AG and they talked to Griots and sent me out a new one with in a day. It was annoying to have it break on me, but you got to love the warranty. They took care of it with just a phone call.

Gotta love that warranty. :xyxthumbs:

I'm going to revive this older thread for a few questions.

I have a Megs G100, considering a GG 6". Will I really notice a difference? Does it keep rotating better than the G100, which is really like the PC, I think.

I find the G100 if you come across an edge or wavy part it stops rotating so often, then you have areas that aren't polished.

i have a 5" backing plate now and many 5.5" LC flat & HT pads, will they work with the GG?

Thanks for considering my questions.

Larry

I dont have exp with the G100, but, I assure you, you will notice a huge difference in power. Even the G110 or PC 7424xp are much more powerful than the G100s were.
