Griots Garage Black Shine Trim Restorer

View attachment 46768 After a non intended full detail friday, I broke out the griots black shine trim restorer. And sadly the xterra has more trim then a bad night in jail. It is a dense white cream. The included orange applicator is the bomb! Its a dense foam and the shape of it makes it PERFECT for trim duty. They can be purchased alone in the AG store. BUY THESE! Application went ok. Like any other trim product i have used. Some places were a bit streaky looking. To be fair i did not strip or use any pre cleaner on the trim. The instructions do not state otherwise beside a good cleaning. Dry to the touch in min. And fully bonds in 8 or more hours. This morning i did notice some run off on the paint around the side mirrors and door handles. But the next wash of course will take care of this. OVERALL a good look. If it lasts a good while it will be a bonus. My judgement is 50/50 on it.

UPDATE 4/4. We had some rain and the trim is beading nicely. So far a good thing.

I've started using it as well and like it. I'm anxious to see how long it lasts in our climate here since it rains so much.

Going to do wash this weekend. I will report my findings....

UPDATE. I really do like this product! Rain continues to bead/sheet right off the trim. And so far it is really holding up. Trim look's great!

Application tip: On smooth plastic, follow up with a quick wipe down with a MF towel. It will even out the look and shine.

Thanks for the update! It's always nice to hear how trim products hold up over time.:props:

Just received a bottle today from AG. Can't wait to use it this weekend. Will report back, and see how it compares to Turtle Wax's trim restorer - which I have to say isn't too shabby.

Wanted to bump this. My bottle is just about done. This product really does perform. No streaks after rain, love the included applicator, and it really does last.

I wonder how Griots compares to McKees trim restorer as far as durability....

I think if you want durability or even just want to have the best trim possible you should use something like solution finish first to restore it then use trim restore products just to make it pop. thats what I do the solution finish supposedly lasts 2 years. I just hit it with some blackfire trim and tire sealant and it looks black and fresh as can be.
