Griots, Flex, Rupes DA clone

i have a feeling CG will be selling these. i noticed one in a post that was on CG instagram . i asked if this was the rupes clone and someone told me it was a flex. after i told them it was not and mentioned M shine the entire post and picture was deleted

I personally don't see anything wrong with making a replica of something else. In this case the Rupes. I have a Rupes and would even consider picking up one of these just to have it and try it out.

Meguiar's has there own version of their DA, Giots etc...

I have a

Rotary
PC
Rupes

And have been wanting a Flex and maybe this too when it comes out

If Griots comes out with a long throw machine seems like it will be this one:

Interesting that it uses standard 5/16-24 thread backing plates which would make it reasonably priced to have a 5 and 6" backing plate, but would it be as smooth and vibration free as the Rupes????

That looks like the MaxShine unit, which has Griots colors, but no word from Griots yet.

The following are my thoughts on clones , copies etc and not something to cause drama . I would just like to share my thoughts and see if others look at this practice in the same light. I was just on a forum/group page where a member posted that another detailer had copied his website down to the packages and prices offered along with pictures. Now this detailer plans on profiting from the hard work and research done by someone other than himself. If the detailer shows these pictures and doesn't claim he actually did the work but that he gets like results IMO he is morally corrupt. He has almost no investment in his marketing and profiting . In this situation other members of the mentioned post lam-blasted the member that copied the website , calling him a thief among other unpleasant names. So my question, is the copying of a machine different from the copying of the original detailers intellectual property ? Please remember this is what my personal opinion is and there is no legal basis for it. I would like to know what others think but please keep in on topic and civil.

Well if we get technical, while the machines do seem pretty darn close, BUT they are different colors, and I'm sure other things too. So who knows they might have copied it just enough but also changed it just enough, to be able to make a claim to it. That there is for lawyers and judges etc..., not me.

Copying down someone to the T vs copying there ideas (to a certain degree) is done all the time. Look at all of us, rinse less washes, waterless washes, techniques etc,

Now copying pictures, prices, word by word and color by color is a lot different then copying ideas.

I am also not trying to or going to get into it with anyone here. So keep it civil and friendly my friends.

:cruising:

I see that the Ansi clone is available in the states now for ~$275. That's not a large enough difference in price for me to gamble and pass on the Rupes.

Welp..... it's happening. Sigh....

"We developed" "We developed" "We developed". What a bunch of liars.

I don't understand the videos. It seems like the clone didn't do a good job as they showed clear coat flaws.

I own a Rupes 15 and it is great with LC pads on a new Toyota car. I bought Rupes pads but have not used them. When the LC pads cannot do their jobs, I will switch and buy Rupes polish (is that right?). I need a little guidance please.

Easy , just don t buy the knockoffs . It s like that in lots of different stuff as well .

As mentionned , they might be the same under different names , colors .

I agree, they'd have to take another $100 off that price to make me even think to experiment with it....

We spend a lot of $$ on our rides and the products to make them look good,IMO I think it's just nuts not to go with the original! No? Besides that video showed that it didn't do a great job

Like Jankerson. So much comes out if China and is relabled. Sad, but it's our reality. So many of My military buddies that tell me about all the stuff over there. Also, the griots comes rite out of China. Rite on the machine.

And at the same time my Griot's DA's (3 and 6") have been awesome for the last three years, being used almost daily. China doesn't ALWAYS mean crap. Just take care of them and don't toss them around.

Do a google search for 'Gloss It 21'.

thanks for the head up. unfortunately, i would never buy anything from gloss-it, they have some ethical issues with some credible detailers in the past. besides that, they are over-priced on just about everything they sell. no thanks...
