Griots g9 broken?

Wonder what happened with the gears and fan?

I think they are incorporating a design that they used on the G8 that they are patenting. Something about the counterweight design doubling as a fan. They want to include it in the G9 design now.

Well mine should be here tomorrow. Pretty impressive considering the faulty unit was picked up by fedex on Monday. Not really sure they would have even had a chance to look at it before they shipped a package to me on Thursday. I guess I’ll know tomorrow if they replaced the cord, the polisher or both.

Brand new polisher at my PO today. Gotta love their customer service. Only thing I would like to know is what failed.
I’ll reach out via email and see if they will share.

Reading the previous posts, I am sure it was something simple.

Brand new designs of just about any product will experience "bugs" that are simply corrected in the manufacturing process.

Awesome to hear about the quick delivery of your new machine. Griot's CS for the win..........Again. :)

Still waiting for my cord to arrive!

Is the G9 quieter than the GG6? I was surprised by how loud the GG6 was when I got mine a few years ago.

Just sent my 2nd one back in. Now, Im going to get a Rupes.

What happened to both?

The same issue as everyone else is having. Power cuts off during use. They gave me a hassle about the second one. I called Autogeek and I forked our the money for another Rupes. I can’t afford to have these types off issues while working on cars.

Do you mind sharing when was the second polisher sent to you? I’ve read on the forum that Griots is aware of the issue and was working on a revised version so I wonder if they are selling new version already (i was about to order a GG9 for myself but will hold off for now). Also, what issues have you had with griots regarding the second tool?

No argument here. I'd be soured about the G9 as well, and I am a Griot's fan.

That said, I have always shied away from buying the "brand new, latest thing" machinery-wise.

Be it automotive, lawn & garden, or polishers in this case.

I like to wait a year or so for reviews, and to let the "bugs" bite others until the manufacturer works them out.

JMO......

The machine really feels great in the hand. I really started to love it. But with the amount of work that I’m going, I had to go with the best. I already had a Rupes Mille in my arsenal. So I added the new LHR 15 mark 3. To replace the G9. Is an awesome machine!!!

How did they give you a hassle? They're supposed to be no questions asked and never gave me a hassle on anything so I'm curious what they said to you about this.

I first called Autogeek and they told me that since it was my 2nd machine, I had to contact Griot. So when I done that, their customer service wanted me to send in the polisher and let them test it. But I didn’t have the time for that. They wouldn’t help me in any other way other than for me to just wait on them. Therefore, I called Autogeek back. I sort of got the same response, but I told them that I wasn’t going to wait due to me picking up a new contract via Porsche/BMW/Land Rover. I had to send a video showing what the machine was doing. Finally, Autogeek called back saying that I could either get a new polisher and they would overnight it,or get a refund. Therefore, I decided to pay for a Rupes and hopefully will receive a full refund for the G9.
