Griot's pre-wax cleaner?

i use it and it does a good joy. costs less than menz top inspection stuff and does the same thing. most griots dont have too much scent which i like anyway

Did you use a Griots product as LSP afterwards or something else?

I'm curious if the following text I copied from the description has any effect on durability with some waxes and sealants.
"............Made from a carefully blended combination of citrus oil and surfactants............"
 
Never used the Griots paint cleaner.

Perhaps the consumer OTC paint cleaners like the ones from Megs and Mothers do the same.

I know Meguiars SwirlX is a cleaner/polish. But it darkens paint and isnt a true paint cleaner IMO.

I'm not following your logic...in fact the next line from the one you quoted is: "Griot's Garage Pre-Wax Cleaner instantly lifts polish residue and anything else that might interfere with the bonding of the wax or sealant."

I was pointing out the citrus oils... One of the final lines is to use Griots wax or sealant as your lsp. My thought was citrus oils might interfere with some products and apparently it does not with Griots wax and sealant. Maybe it does not regardless of product...

Citrus oil and extracts are commonly used as degreasers, and are not "oils" in the sense we refer to oils as causing problems with sealant bonding, AFAIK

EDIT: Since I think it's against the rules for me to post a link to Wikipedia, I'll quote here: "Orange oil is an essential oil produced by glands inside the rind of an orange fruit. It is extracted or steam distilled as a by-product of orange juice production. It is composed of mostly (greater than 90%) d-limonene...Limonene is what gives citrus fruit their familiar aroma, and is therefore used in perfume and household cleaners for its fragrance. It is also an effective, environmentally friendly, and relatively safe solvent, which makes it an active ingredient of choice in many applications, such as, but not limited to, adhesive and stain removers, cleaners of various sorts, and strippers."
 
I'm aware of a citrus oils ability as a degreaser. Just not sure if it leaves anything behind that might interfere with some paint sealants. For instance if it leaves any citrus oil (degreaser) behind it's not going to be good for what you put on next unless its cohesive. My wife is deep into the organics so orange oil and coconut oil are just a couple of our friends in this house. :)

I'd honestly be more worried about residue from the surfactants they have in there than the citrus oil/limonene.
 
I'm sure if they made it as a pre-wax cleaner and said that it will leave the surface ready for a wax/sealant, it will not have a bonding issure. I have a full bottle, just used it once and perfer Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion as a paint cleaner. Corey, if you want to try it, I'll send you a sample, just pm me.
 
I had picked up some at the last Detail Fest and have used it three times now - last night the most recent time. Compared to IPA, it takes a bit more effort to remove since it does not evaporate like IPA does.

As for hindering bonding, I have not noticed anything but if it did it must be slight. It sure does smell better than IPA mixture.
 
Have used Griots paint cleaner with no issues. After cleaning the polish residue with the paint cleaner, i used PoorBoys White Diamond glaze topped with Pinnacle Souveran.

No bonding issues at all.

Thanks for the generous offer Ron. I'm going to pass on it though. I probably won't use it so no need to waste the shipping dollars. Thanks you though :)
