Guys, any of you have extremely sensitive skin when shaving?

Hey FivePoint.O... How is your face doing now that you have been using this new wet, safety razor method?

I have a few 5 packs of swords I can send out in case anyone wants to try them. Best I've found for my skin type yet, but it's all trial and error.

+1 on trial and error. West coast shaving sells sample packs, and different ones felt very different to me. My personal preference turned out to be Personna blades over the Derby and Feather so far. Pretty much like detailing products, buy a bunch and see what works best for you. Good news is that blades are cheap so it's easy to buy a variety.

I guess it depends on each persons growth as I've found the Derby's to be excellent. Tried the Feathers and couldn't get through one shave without cuts and nicks.

A lot of it is razor dependent as well. One of my razors works great with Voskhod blades but those same blades are horrible in another razor.

As long as I routinely switch out for new/clean blades, my troubles have gone away, but using the same blade for a couple weeks or longer in college, (To save money ) is where most of my skin irritation began.

That said, razor blades are stupid expensive for what they are. :(

It's been better, much less irritation, but I can't get as close of a shave compared to cartridge razors. Less ingrown hairs with safety razors. I've found Feather blades the best so far.

for those who are willing to take a chance and spend a whole $1 on some DE blades lol, the 99.cent only store has the Personna blades (may have a few different brands)...

Good to know! I've heard the safety razor route is the way to go but have never tried it. I remember my dad using them when I was a little kid in the 70s. I have bad issues with ingrown hairs. I found a site for men with ingrown hair issues and have had the best results from the knowledge I learned there. Still not perfect but the best shaves I have ever had. Basically it involves shaving with a Panasonic electric razor (they have the fastest cutting speeds). I can get a super close shave without it removing any epidermis. Therefore, no irritation at all but on the occasions I get ingrown hairs I will get some bumps until I remove with tweezers. Any other electric razor I have used irritated my skin and gave me a ton of ingrown hairs. I still might try this safety razor method in search of the perfect shave.

I would like to get a professional shave just to see if the perfect shave is possible on my beard. I know that I have used a razor on other parts of my body before (sorry if TMI but trying to make a point) and have terrible irritation and ingrown hairs/bumps but also had nurses shave me in same areas while under anesthesia and it was the closest, smoothest best shave with zero irritation. Must be something with my technique. After reviewing this thread I might have to train myself to shave left handed to see if my technique changes and helps.

I have not read this whole thread so maybe it has already been mentioned but if not, this product is the best I know of to reduce skin irritation when shaving with an electric. A little bothersome at first but not too bad. Makes a world of difference especially for very sensitive skin. Read the reviews for good tips an how to use and apply:

In my opinion I think the 7 o'clock blades are much better. I have used and array of blades and the super sharps just fit the bill perfectly. They are sharp but not too sharp so they are forgiving, but they get you a very smooth comfortable shave. If you want I can send you pack so you can try them out.

Thanks for the response and offer, but I can get a few at Amazon with free shipping--I will make sure they are the ones made in Russia as you suggested.

No problem if you ever need any more advice about DE razors just ask and hope you like the 7 o'clock blades
