Have you ever gotten hurt detailing?

Just minor stuff...a cut finger, sore back. Just yesterday I closed the door of a customer's car...with my head in the way. Smacked my left ear pretty hard but no blood. Oh yeah, and I've fallen of my wheeled cart while rolling. Luckily no one was around so I was spared embarrasment.

Speaking of getting hit on the ear, at work an ice cream bin fell on my left ear right on the cartilage, and it was the corner of the bin too, but luckily they're rounded. It just really sucked.

Minor cuts & bruises. Larger cut on hand from a bent piece of trim around a well (reached in to clean with brush and it sliced me). Feel off stool, hit head, almost blacked out. Few sore ankles from twisting injuries. I've been pretty fortunate despite many opportunities to get hurt badly. Most recent attempt at big injury was a few months ago I stepped off my step stool into my 5 gallon bucket. I couldn't figure out what was going on but knew I was going down lol.

-Sliced the tip of my finger almost off grabbing trash from under a seat. grabbed a razor blade instead. Left the job to get a tetinus (sp?) shot.
-Sliced my palm wide open.
-smashed my head getting out of my trailer. had to go back in the trailer to sit down. Brought tears to my eyes.
-occasional jambed fingers, cuts, bumps, and bruises.
-got my finger stuck in a wheel...:D

If you aren't bleeding, sweating, swearing, or bruised, you ain't working hard enough!:awesome:

I CRINGED reading THAT! Man, it sounds like the Saw movie or something. When I read about your finger being stuck in a wheel, it reminded me about this football player in my old highschool getting his finger bent BACKWARD from being stuck in another person's face guard on the helmet.

Some of you guys sound dangerious. I have had some minor cuts but nothing serious. When I was in college I worked on a production line making truck rims one summer. I had the tip of my index finger on my right hand cut off. I went to the hospital and they stiched it back on. For about 5 years I could not feel anything in that finger but now the feeling has come back.

Eh....not dangerous, just concentrating on detailing and nothing else. I go to work fresh and clean to work on a dirty beat up car. in the end, I am dirty and beat up and the car is fresh and clean...... lol
I still cannot feel anything with the tip of my finger. Going on 2 years now....

Chris, It's amazing what the human body can do. Give it a few more years and you may still regain feeling in your finger. After having my finger tip cut off it took about 5 years before I had any real feeling in it. Now the feeling is back to about 80-90% of what it should be. I guess getting cars looking good while you get worn out is a part of detailing.
