I wasn't impressed with HD polish which ironically after customs post was a knock off of 205
 
So HD Speed has Poxy to top over it for longer lasting protection... what would be good over D166?
I ask for my own, personal use.

Well, mostly because I'd say the majority of people top for protection. Personally I have AIO as a inexpensive option for clients. It saves me time and effort, so if just using the AIO gives the client the result they are after for the price point they want then I don't top it because that's defeating the intended purpose of the product and the intention of why I'm offering it.

A possible killer combo could be D166 topped with D156 after every wash. Longevity would be unlimited.

you know I have yet to try D156, I just don't want o buy another gallon of something, I have so many products as it is but at the same time I read so many great things about it.
 
D156? You ought to try it. Chances are you'll really like it. :)
