Headlight restoration

Can I use 2000 grit to start off wet sanding then finish with 5000 grit wet sand then go straight to buffing and waxing for a good restoration ?

Unless they are REALLY bad, I start with 1000, go to 3000 then finish with M105 / M205 then a sealant. Works awesome!

I have gone from 5000 direct to polish (skipping compound). If you are jumping from 2000 to 5000, that may be too much of a jump (for the 5000 to clean up the 2000 grit marks).

Depending on how bad they are I start with 600, 1000, 1500, then 2000 before polishing with Menz. SHC 300 and finishing with Menz. 3500
