Hi Guys and Gals,

My name is Ian, I am 32 years old, happily married and have a 5 month old kid! I am a mechanical engineer by profession and I own and manage my manufacturing company. I love cars, but I consider myself new to the "Art Of Detailing" (the title of the book I just purchased). As I always do in anything in life, I do everything with passion, so I am here to learn a lot, and share as much as I can from what I learn and discover along the way.

As the title states, I come from the tiny island of Malta in the Mediterranean sea... a few thousand miles from most of you! We Maltese have a passion for cars and speed, and since we do not have any tracks in Malta, we either go to Sicily to test our cars or on our roads! We are not the safest kind of folks, as you can imagine from what I am saying, but we take pride in our (crazy) ways.

Happy to be here and looking forward to a long term stay in your great company!

Welcome to AG!

I was just thinking that if i was in a place as awesome as malta i would have made my forum name MalteseFalcon.

:welcome: Ian.......glad to have you with us!

My best mate Ben was based in Malta for a couple of years. Hahaha - he did mention driving there was fairly sketchy at best! Which really would suit him to be honest. Seen a fair few photos of Malta & certainly a fun looking part of the world. Ben liked his time there & the night life probably a little too well.

Welcome Ian, to the best detailing forum ever.

Hey all,

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Still finding my way around the forum. Will try to get up to speed in the coming days.

Since a few weeks, I am really starting looking forward to the Saturdays i spend with my car! I really have got nothing special... A 1200cc Skoda Fabia from 2006, which I bought new and use everyday for all the things that need transportation, but what I can say is that seeing the results as you work hard to improve the aesthetics of the car, however small, motivates you to push harder towards your objective!

Last month, i finished the tiling work in the garage, and replaced the old door with an automatic one. Now the car is always in the garage when not being used, and this is making it possible to take even better care of it, as the results of the detailing effort are enjoyed longer, and therefore they are more worth the effort.

haha... yea... you kind of confirm what I wrote in my first post - we try our car in the roads. Some say that we like driving in the shade (wherever that is... the left or right side), since we are known to overtake from anywhere we can find space!

I do not want to give the impression that driving in Malta is scary... I would say it is scary in Sicilian cities (Catania, Palermo...), but if you can drive in Malta, you can probably drive in most places around the world. We have a very high population and vehicle density for the small space we occupy in the world (Malta is 27km x 13km, and we have something like 300,000 cars), and we like to stay outdoors and travel everywhere by private vehicle! Traffic is crazy in the rush hours, but otherwise it is nice!

Thanks
