Help. Chaulky wheels on new camaro

however there are TONS of scratches that remain however they are not in the clear coat they are in the wheels them selves.

Unfortunately this is what I found with my GM "high-polish" wheels as well; that the polishing guy isn't an Autogeek and after a lot of trying to remove "swirls" in the clear, I finally realized they were in the aluminum wheel surface underneath.

Have you looked into any machine shops near by? I'm a big vw Audi fan and have had several sets of wheels high polished to mirror and cleared. Normally runs 100-150 a wheel but very worth the stand apart from the crowd look. Just my .02.
Camaro is a beautiful car but they sure dropped the ball with the finishing touches...

I might get mine repainted at some point because the barrels are all pitted (I don't know about those Camaro wheels, but mine didn't have much if any clear on the barrels). Mine look fine from a distance, a guy I worked with was sure they were chromed and even argued with me about it when I told him they were polished/cleared.

The barrels on these wheels had machineing grooves. This is just me but powder coating I think would give the best finish for the barrels. Having the machine grooves/ridges smoothed I think cost in labor would rapidly out cost the wheels them selves.... Just a thought. But having mirror finished faces with painted barrels might not turn out well all together (although there is a squared edge from the face to the barrels so who knows.... Good luck and I hope you have put a set of pads that produce less brake dust on yours there's were terrible in just one week... I would think EBC ceramics.

Yes, the barrels on mine have that rough machined surface too, I would just have them cleared again, I think. The wheel refinisher I talked to said they would bead blast the barrels, hopefully that and whatever acid clean they do would get them back to "aluminum" color, and I will go with some cleaner pads, Akebonos. I just don't think the barrels had much if any (clear) paint on them to begin with. I have a Honda product that has silver painted fronts but the barrels were the same way.
