help decide swirl/cut and polish for Z06

2 yellow
2 orange
2 white

how does this sound to get me started? 5" back plate obviously

You can always wash them and spin them dry if they become too bad. I'm just the kinda guy that likes to have enough to work straight through.

You'll need need at least 4 Orange pads and I'd buy a total of four white ones too. My car was in great shape and when I hit it with SF4000 this weekend just to really mirror out the horizontal surfaces to perfection one pad did the hood-roof-trunk. I switched to a new one after that. Used one more for each side.

Make sure you have a smaller backing plate and some pads too. You'll need them for the tighter areas. 2 orange and 2 white will suffice there.

Going to get the 6 5.5" pads.

Gee why you go through so many? do they wear out? or do they get dirty and you just like having ammo so you don't have to stop

You must realize that when you're correcting, you're removing paint residue and that accumulates on the pad. At a certain point(even when cleaning on the fly), the accumulation becomes too much and you'll get reduced cut and possible marring on the paint. Going through 6 pads per correcting step on a car is not too many.

Picking up a few extra pads is a good investment. Even when I clean on the fly, there comes a point when you stare at your pad and you are happy that you can reach for a clean one.

I always set myself up with 4 cutting, 4 polishing, and 4 finishing (2 for cleaner waxes, and 2 for finishing sealants).

I'm a little ocd with my fours. I have yet to use more than three per step.

doing some more forum reading. This caught my eye after one person mentioned it here.

would this be good to apply after my

menzerna correction
Meg ultimate
then...Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax #845, liquid wax, heat-resistant wax, car wax

or am i getting way ahead of myself

Same with me - Pdqgp turned me in the direction of 845. I have a bottle en route as we speak. I'm going to put down two coats of black light and then the 845. Again - a recipe provided by Pdqgp.

Haha. You'll be grinning from ear to ear with the result once you're done.
