Just for future reference, rocking doesn't help for this, you need to release the pressure on the parking pawl. So your friends just needed to push it uphill just slightly...if you push it too far the other way you theoretically could have the same problem, which might have been what happened with the chain. Probably would have been better for 4 of you to push and your gf in the car.

we tried that lol It was raining, she was pissy, and I couldnt push it further than 2 feet lol When they got here we tried to push it, 3 of us and her in the driver seat. theres a video i think.... one of the guys girlfriends was there taping lol ill see if i can get it lol

TWO FEET??!!??!! About a quarter of an inch is all you need to push it to remove the pressure from the pawl...maybe an inch if you put all the backlash and moment arms into it. If you moved it two feet, that would explain why your linkage is all messed up.

Your car doesn't have a release button by the shifter? Most newer cars have them. There is a cover over it that you pop off with a flat head screwdriver

It has one. Tried it, didn't work.
