I knew that would get your attention! haha

I decided to take it to PM's with Dana after another disagreement I had with him tonight. This isn't the first as I'm sure most of you are aware of. I should have took it to PM's right away. Anyhow, we exchanged quite a few PM's, and after having some good discussion with him, he's a pretty intelligent guy. I'm sure most of you never doubted that. I got to know a little bit about him as a person and not just a detailer. I have posted aggression towards him, truly thinking he means no good, but I now firmly believe he really wants to share his vast detailing knowledge with everyone. I wanted to publicly clarify this because I don't like to leave a bitter taste in my mouth, or don't want anyone to get the wrong impression of him. Not that any of you guys believed me in the first place. No need to respond to this thread. As long as I got it out there, that's good enough for me. :xyxthumbs:

Nice to see you two have buried the hatchet ( and not in each other's heads). You both have a wealth of information to share and it will be good to have some collaboration on questions instead of beating up on the other's response. Nice job "maning up":dblthumb2:

Dana is a good guy.... The lack of inflection and emotion available on the "interwebs" does not properly convey that....

I missed a night of excitement?:( You crazy kids. I see the thread is still in time out.

Good to see that's resolved :dblthumb2:
There's no getting away from AGO once the bug has bitten :autowash:

I see the thread is still in time out.

I closed it late last night, I don't really like playing Moderator, I've never stated on any forum that I'm a good Moderator or even like the role.

I'm not sure anything positive will can come from it now if I re-open it? If someone can make the case that something positive can come from it then I'll re-open it. Until then I'll leave it closed. It can be read for the good information contained within and the rest is what it is....

:)

I started that thread just so I can learn something, it annoys me that it turned into what it did.

Mike,

Is there anyway you can re-open the other thread, just delete the bickering? The tension towards Dana I had is gone 100%. I couldn't say that last time. If anything else arises, ban me. It won't, so I'm not worried about that.

I apologize for the direction the thread turned, this is where having a Moderator on at all hours of the day to keep an eye out for this kind of interaction is important.

For threads that go south like this there are two basic options,

1) Move the original thread to the Moderator's forum to preserve the original comments for posterity as we don't delete threads on this forum

2) Make a copy of the thread and clean it up to protect the innocent, (that would be you and all the regular members and Lurkers that can gain some insight and information from the good content in the thread), and then place the cleaned-up copy back to where the original thread was located.

All of the above takes time and you can never please anyone, that's why in a perfect world these kinds of incidents wouldn't take happen in the first place.

The nice thing is there's usually a pattern that develops over time and the root cause of the problem exposes itself and then it's just a matter of removing the root cause and the problems go away.

This is where having an official Moderator or Forum Police comes in handy as they get to do the dirty work and they're not affected by the theme of this discussion forum, (detailing), or too close to the members to hinder their judgment, they just look at what was posted and then apply the forum rules.

This is also where having a strong set of forum rules comes in handy and to bring this to everyone's attention, we now have updated forum rules and they will be applied strictly and immediately.

Here they are for everyone's reading pleasure...

Forum Rules

1. No personal attacks toward members or non-members will be tolerated.

2. No arguing with Moderators or Administrators.

3. You are welcome to disagree but you must be polite.

4. No bashing any company or their products. No bashing other people. If you can't say anything nice about someone, then don't say anything at all, this also includes talking to others in a demeaning manner. REMEMBER this forum is here for those that are new to detailing and those that have been doing this for years. We expect that you treat everyone with respect no matter what their level of detailing is. We all had to start somewhere.

5. Forum Nicknames and Avatars must be family friendly, they cannot even hint towards anything raunchy, sleazy, sexual or inappropriate. When in doubt we will err on the side of caution and ask you to choose a different Avatar or Nickname.

6. E-mail addresses cannot be used as a forum nickname.

7. If any thread gets off topic it will be at the discretion of the moderator to close and/or move it to moderators corner.

8. Keep language "G Rated", this includes insinuations. If you wouldn't say it in front of your grandparents, your parents or your children, then you shouldn't probably be posting to the AutogeekOnline forum.

9. Self-promoting clickable links are not allowed in your posts.

10. Moderators have the right to move any thread that does not follow within the AGO rules to moderators corner.

11. Only one account per member! The only conceivable reason for multiple accounts would be for fraudulent activity. You will be banned for this action immediately.

12. Continuously breaking the rules to disrupt the online community will result in you being banned from the forum.

13. No Commercial sales or samples from competing companies. One post trying to promote and you will have banned yourself permanently.

14. All messages posted to AutogeekOnline become the property of Autogeek.net. and may not be deleted without first obtaining permission.

Exceptions:
We stand behind our Moderators, if our Moderators think you're causing problems for the online community they are empowered to take whatever action necessary to correct the problem.

Rule Infraction Enforcement
Everyone makes mistakes however; pushing the house rules to the limit will not be tolerated. Therefore, chronic and severe violators of AGO rules will be warned, put on a Queue (time-out), or completely banned based on the severity of the violation. We will apply rule enforcement as follows:

1st time offense- Warning
Minor rule infractions, you will be sent a PM or email by a moderator pointing out the infraction. There will be no action at this time outside of the warning.

2nd time offense- Queue
This will give you a 24 hour up to a two week forum break. This will occur after you have been warned previously or if you are involved with bashing of other members, being a hot-head, spamming, bad language, posting inappropriate materials.

3rd and last time- Banned
You will have effectively banned yourself if you are a repeat offender or if you are involved with any of the following....blatant spamming/selling, attacking forum moderators, pornography, racial/sexist/threatening posts, trolling, fraud, liable/slander, multiple accounts, shills.

What to do when you see a problem on the forum

ANYTIME you see someone causing a problem,

don't interact with them on the forum

Instead, click on the Report Post button

That way a record is created and sent to all Moderators and Administrators and you stay out of the fray.

Thank you...

[Edited: Remarks that did not comply with our forum rules removed. - Mike Phillips]

He only comes off that way if you let his advice fall on deaf ears. The guys knows his stuff and my work speaks for it. He has guided me through the ways of a rotary and I couldn't be more appreciative. I'm sorry that you feel that way towards AR, but the guy is full of knowledge. There is no denying that. So to call him a DA is pretty ignorant.

I feel like this is deja vu?

Wait Mike just told me I can't do anymore name-calling.

I'm not ignorant, I am entitled to my opinion.

I am entitled to my opinion.

And this is to everyone on the topic of opinions...

Everyone has their opinion but if your opinion doesn't comply with the forum rules, then you need to take it to PM's or E-mail, or start your own forum, or use your cell phone or keep it to yourself.

This forum is for discussing car detailing, not personality contests.

If you see something written by ANY forum member that doesn't comply with our new forum rules then simply hit the "Report Post" button and there's a place you can post your comment about what you're seeing or reading and let our Moderators take care of it.

Thank you for complying...

Mike if you could just remove the bs and this way the thread will be back on track.
