As I type, then delete, then type some more, then delete some more, I have found myself wondering how my digital introduction might differ from a physical first impression. While I can't shake all your hands, I'd like to.
Anyhow, I am Nick and I have been "detailing" cars for about a year. I use quotations because the more research I do, the more I find out I have made mistakes, and the more I realize I don't know. I am an avid auto enthusiast meandering the internet from a few other forums, some great, and some just damage control for the new guys I try to help with "go fast mods."
My main reason for joining this site is paint correction and the X factor. I love that TV show. Just kidding, I don't watch much TV aside from SNL, which I DVR. When I say the X factor, its my place holder for "that thing I didn't know, but I'm glad I just learned about." Since I don't know what all these tips, tricks, and fundamentals are, I had to give them a variable name.
As far as paint correction goes, I have been compounding, and polishing with my Porter Cable DA, and I recently purchased a thickness gauge to ensure I am being safe, and further my technical expertise. I've been learning the majority of my knowledge from the internet, and I'd like to change that a bit. I am thinking learning from someone local would benefit me, as I could see someone else technique in real life/real time. In the mean time I will continue my online detailing education here, supplementing with other sites as I can.
I was born and raised in the Sacramento area (530 and 916) and I currently live in Camarillo. I have an "03 Neon SRT-4, a "64 Impala (restoration in slow progress) as well as an "08 Ford Escape for the wife and baby.
