I'm interested in getting a(High end) Non-metal, nano-hybrid Carbon on my car. This what I was quoted for 4 windows minus the windshield. I also Understand that price can correspond with Quality..

Which is a better fit Computerized cut or Manual tint Cut?

Shop #1 (Most Expensive)High end tint used SunTek CXP .This shop has actual demo cars on the lot showing there work, Estimated cost $450. This shop does the tint cuts manually. Lifetime warranty on all work. Yrs in Business 19yrs

Shop#2 The main tint shop is in another city about 3hrs away. so I only had the opportunity to visit there branch shop no cars on lot to show off there work. The only thing I can find are Angie list reviews. This company offers 2 types of High end tints, Prices range from $320 to $420. Tint types Huper Optik and LLumar. With Huper Optik being the most expensive. They Used a combination of Computer and manual cuts. yrs in Business 26yrs

Shop#3 franchise shop(cheapest)Suntek Cxp. One demo car that has the franchise name on it. They use some sort of computerized film cutting system. Estimated cost $380. This place felt more like walmart. They did a little of everything.
.Feed back please

$400ish for Huper seems about right. As to computer versus hand, it depends on of if the person doing the hand cuts is experienced\competent or not.

I've had really good luck with LLumar tint on my and my families cars. It has never faded or bubbled, and gets seriously beat on by the Florida sun. The shop I went to for my car (and my families) cut everything by hand, and the job came out flawlessly. My Dad has the car with the longest tint job by them on his 98 crown victoria, and the tint is just as dark as the day it was put on. In addition to the crown victoria they also applied LLumar tint to the following vehicles for my family and friends (different window sizes and angles will play how tint reacts, and this is just to give you some perspective as to what I have seen with LLumar):

- 2002 Pontiac Firehawk
- 2003 VW Passat
- 1998 Ford Econoline
- 2004 GMC Yukon XL
- 2006 Nissan Altima

So... I can confidently say that LLumar tint won't fail you.

I too have Llumar and had Huper ... both far outlasted the cars ownership. No discoloring and no issues.

The current state my vehicle is registered in allows for a %35 percent window tint. IF I drive through a state like New York or RI can I be ticketed??

^^^No...maybe: (well, you could be ticketed, but it will not stand up) Your car would be only upheld to the motor vehicle laws in the state that it is registered. I am in Florida with tinted windows and have driven through many states that have lower % or do not allow tint without any problems.

Disclaimer: Former law enforcement. Here's the rub. You CAN still get a ticket. You then need to show the court that your vehicle is registered in a state that allows the level of tint you have.

From what I have been told the law will apply to vehicles that are registered to that particular state. I've actually been pulled over in Virginia (registered vehicle in FL) with 15% tint in the rear, and the police officer made no mention of me being over the state's legal limit.

400-500+ is going rate for Carbon film... the film is very expensive to buy (as an installer)

Bells and whistles in the shop doesn't mean much. Just go with your gut and realize it's not a perfect science.

Don't use cleaners with ammonia and follow the installers recommendation on not rolling the windows down for 3-5 days (some may say 1-2 weeks)

Film takes 2-4 weeks to completely dry.

Good luck post pics when done.

Put a piece of tape over your window controls, as a safety measure

I'm leading towards the ceramic tint Huper Optik Are there any cons with getting this type of tint. My main objective is to block heat.

rumor has it the ceramic may distort vision.
