It seems like they changed the defaults on the settings. If you go into Settings you can change between System (the same as what's on the device on which you are viewing), Light or Dark. It's still between Light and Dark (Dark is what your screen pic displays) it's just that the System setting will change to reflect to whatever you might change on your own device.

For reference my normal setting on MY systems is Dark but this particular implementation is, IMO, not very good and caught me by surprise as I found it VERY difficult to read. Once I figured out where it was set I changed it back to Light and it's fine now (though a GOOD implementation of Dark would be welcome, just not a big deal to me).
 
I can't read the thread titles unless I click on them.
Other than that im very happy with the changes that have been made

I have my phone set to go to dark mode at sunset, and the forum switched to dark mode, with unreadable titles as well, a couple of days ago. So I turned off that setting on my phone, and the forum went to dark mode again, taking my phone settings with it again the next night. I just checked, dark mode is still off, I'll see if it does it again tonight.

That's not the settings icon. That's the "Light" icon. The site is not in dark mode for me in Chrome (Win). You may want to try the "System" setting or look at browser settings. Maybe you have a browser setting that is overriding the style setting on the site.
 
On my phone, in my account on the site, there's a preferences tab, and in there you can select "style variation", which has system, light, and dark options. Mine was set for system, which I guess adjusted light and dark based on my timezone. I'll switch to light and that should fix it.

Works fine for me since I changed it to Dark (instead of picking up my system which is also Dark); don't know why they changed the default. It would be fine if, as I mentioned earlier, this forum s/w's implementation of Dark mode wasn't so, well, DARK. It's the mode I used almost everywhere else but the readability HERE is just not good.

Back in the heyday of this forum, many/most of those subs had things going on in them.

I noticed the whole theme change too. For me in Win/Chrome, I don't mind the dark theme while viewing an individual thread, but I too loose the thread title text when looking at a list of threads. Not sure why they thought black on dark blue was the best way to render a dark theme. That's the fault of the platform software I believe, not the AG admins.
 
I'm using Chrome on my phone, I had it turned to light theme on the forum, and light theme on my phone, and it still went dark after sunset. But I was walking the dogs, in darkness when I checked it, not that I think it's that intuitive. It's easy to switch it back to light though, doing it either in the forum or on the phone works. It is strange though.
 
In Your account: preferences: Style variation I can switch, but how about fixing the dark mode issue please?!
