How much would you charge for this?

It makes sense alot what your saying! I was just wondering out of the wild on what you guys charge on an average to those things i mentioned! One guy was trying to talk me into wetsanding his whole car and doing a 3 step polish for $100... I am not that stupid to say yes to that, i told him $300 but he kept insisting that EVERYWHERE else it was $100. Crazy people these days. I recently did my uncles car that was complety oxidized, and well im glad he let me practice on his car to get experience since im starting out! He gave me $100 because he really loved the way it looked. It pretty much brought back the car alive after i was done!

I would have laughed at that guy, ha. People that try to pull maneuvers like that are just not worth keeping as a customer. I won't do an AIO on his paint for $100, ha.

$300 is DIRT cheap for wet sanding, and a 3 step. That typically takes at least 2 days. You should be getting anywhere from $1000-$1500 for a process like that IMO. That's a ton of work...as you know judging by the job you did on your stang! :props:

I get people that try that trick all the time. they say "oh well, this guy over here said $200". An easy way to stomp that issue...is just simply say "I'm not competing with anyone". Detailing isn't one of those types of services where you typically have to compete with prices. It's not like getting your oil changed. Every detailer has a different level of skill. Guy down the road might be charging $200...and you're charging $400. Difference is...you KNOW it's gonna come out good. The other guy will probably go into a big job blindly.

You get what you pay for! :dblthumb2:

i know exactly what you mean! i told him 300 because i only have a month and a half of experience! and im doing well so far! i had a few holograms on my first attempt, a red honda! but now its fixed! the black mustang was a pain in the @$$!! black is obviously no joke! but you saw my work kristopher! not bad, it can be better, but it was good! but ill keep in mind about what you said of saying "im not competing"! very good point you made there!

Location is huge. What I charge in Ft Stewart is much different than what I charge in Tampa, and MUCH different then Naples. I am just a part timer in this game, so I can not charge a premium like some folks. However, I can still make sure my work is done to the best of my ability. I would not take on a wetsand job, because I simply do not have the time to do that.

For an AIO I typically charge around $100 in Ft Stewart, $150 in Tampa, and $200 in Naples. I usually do a few cars a month. Nothing huge.

Very true. Prices definitely vary depending on location as well. I'm in NH, so my prices are kind of strange I think. If I was in say FLA, or Cali...I would have a LOT more competition. But around here...there's really not many places that even do correction. That's considered a body shop type of service around here. Which actually plays to my advantage, cause people already expect a much higher price for a service such as that.

That being said...NH is crazy expensive to begin with. Yeah, we don't have a sales tax...but we pay for it in other ways! Property is very expensive around here. That means people got some dough in certain areas. That's why I'm adding mobile service this year. I'm hoping to track down those hidden Lambos!! lol:xyxthumbs:

Yeah, that is kinda like Naples. Crazy rich. Lol. I could charge more, but I don't go after the ferrari and latter crowd. I do the BMW and frappucino crowd. I would love to get in to the ferrari crowd. So many exotic cars down here. However, I don't thinner I have done enough yet to sell myself to them.

I think pricing has a lot to do with how much work you have... For example I have a friend who used a social deal site (there are a couple of them) offering half price hand wash and vac, once he got them in the door the upsells just kept coming! I think he had over 150 people purchase the deal and with all the work his pricing reflects the available time he has
lots of work = higher prices:dblthumb2:

If I remember correctly.... places like Groupon would not be worth advertising on. I believe it said if you toss up a 100 dollar detail at half off - now it is 50 dollars - then groupon gets 50% of the 50 dollars..... so in all actuality you are selling a 100 dollar detail for 25$! Even if I got 150 of those it would not be worth it whatsoever! IMO of course

B&B - Your right about the price structure, it wasn't the actual deal that makes the profit, its like a coupon, once the customers are in the door for some inexpensive hand washes he was able to introduce his other services and explain how he could help them while the car was sitting right there. I think the deal was a hand wash and vac normally $40, group deal for $20 ($10 gross income) that didn't include paint correction, waxing, etc. Worked for him...

Groupon keeps 50%?! Holy crap. What a rip off. The business I went with only kept 25%. Worked out great cause I need some money to boost my mobile build.
