How to clean fender wells the lazy way!

:offtopic: I've owned several G-bodys and I do not recommend jacking a G-body like the Monte, Regal, Cutlass, etc in those spots(even if its just to lift it partially). Please use the frame in between the wheels. Those pics of the SS on that jack hurts my eyes

Can you share why?

What structural damage is it going to cause? Keep in mind, I had the fender wells on each end of the car cleaned and rinsed in around 40 minutes. I could have done it faster but I stopped to take pictures.

:dunno:

The front looks to be under the Radiator and rear around the bottom of the filler neck of the fuel tank. The same results can be accomplished using the frame one each side of the car, with known safe jacking points.

I appreciate the wheel well cleaning tutorial, I just want to inform the general public who may own/work on a G-body and try jack it up and support 1/2 the weight of a 3600+ pound car unsafely, even its it for just a minute. That's all it takes to get hurt or have an accident occur.

Thanks for chiming in and sharing some good points about using proper lift points. I should have stressed this more and I should have taken pictures showing where I placed the cradle. I did in fact place it under structural steel portions of the frame.

I'll see the car in the future and take pictures just to remove any doubt.

I regularly lift my project truck, for example when I replaced the leaf springs and we're talking about a large, heavy truck. I've been working on cars since I was 15 and I'm very well aware of the importance of using the proper lift points when lifting a car for both personal safety reasons as well as to prevent any harm to the car.

:)

Im just saying, we have tricks to jack up cars like these with 0 problems.. so stock low cars should be no problemo

RED X FOR A PICTURE?

What happened to the picture?

Awesome wright up.
I clean my from wells by turning the tires left (clean them) right (clean them)

Thanks and good tip!

Would a steamer work for this scenario. I know it would still need to be jacked up for dressing but I've seen those small steamer attachments that seem like they would fit in no problem for cleaning.

I think it would be awkward but it would work. I think just using a degreaser or APC and scrubbing would be faster and more efficient for this type of work.

I admit I am guilty of doing it the lazy way, I only remove the wheels on my show car package.

That's a good approach.

How do you clean the brush after? I cleaned the fender wells on the wife's Landcruiser and the brush was ruined after 2 wells. The bristles were stuck together and NOTHING got them clean ( I tried CG AllClean, Degreaser) nothing took all the dirt out. Suggestions?

What was the problem?

As in, what was the substance that would not come off?

I've done a LOT of cleaning lately of all types of icky stuff and when I'm done I just blast the brushes while they're still wet with the product I was using and they rinse clean.

My guess is the problem isn't getting the cleaner off the brush bristles the problem is getting whatever type of gunk is stuck on the inside of your wheel wells and if this is the case....

What is the gunk?

It had the consistency of tar but did not clean off with degreaser or bug/tar soap.

I ran over some animal remains once. I just threw the brush away when I was done.
