How to remove plasti dip

Well, previous owner put plasti dip on my now rig. However it is not peeling off. Any thoughts experience or idea on how to remove it? Trying not to mar the paint although i need to polish the area. Lucky me its on the rear emblem and surrounding area
 
Ok ill have to give it a shot today. Im sure you all can relate to how its driving me crazy having everything nice and then the plasti dip lol
 
APC would remove it but IPA might be safer for your paint

Reference: I used OPC on a set of rims that were plasti dip and it worked amazing
 
Opc? New to abbreviations on the forum! Pardon my ignorance hah!
 
I've used plasti dip and all you have to do is expose an area and peel it. Plasti dip is spray on rubber.
 
Umm, well this isnt the case. I have to scrape it with my nail and that barely gets it off. Some tiny spots will flick up but then you can only peel a tiny spec off. I wish it was easy like it should be.

Yea, typically a few scrapes of the nail will get it lifted/rolled up before peeling. Maybe previous owner didn't add enough coats to the point where it's thick.
 
Plasti dip has a citrus based cleaner that does a pretty good job of removing the old dip. I worked on a gtr that had plasti dip in every crack and crevice. I sprayed on the cleaner let it sit for a few minutes and hit it with a pressure washer.

Ya most of it is pretty thin imo.

I may try this. I think what I'll do is try everything and make a small un controlled review of which works best. Since there is plenty for me to test on

Did you spray it on and let it dry or stay wet?
 
Xylene will remove it but be careful as it is hard on paint if left on too long. Best way is brush on directly on the plasti-dip and use shop towel to wipe off.
 
Goo gone will take it off I have removed it personally with that and also with goof off. If plastic dip is left on to long or is not applied right meaning not enough coats taking it off becomes very very difficult. I even had to use a plastic razorblade I was scared it would do damage but believe me it did not. But goo gone is your best bet if you do not want to order the plastic dip remover that is sold on their website. Good luck
 
Plasti dip your car I think that's the Web page they have all type of plasti dip and they also sell plasti dip remover! It looks like it works never tried it
