How to revive microfiber drying towels?

All good Ric! I’m always open to trying something that may be better. Especially when it comes to my MF’s. I have a little less than a gallon in my 5 gallon Towel Kleen so I may just get myself a gallon of this to test drive.

Thanks for posting this again Guz - I think you're original post may have been lost in the mix with all these home remedies. Hopefully this will work even better.

Seems promising from my first couple of washes and soaking of hydrophobic towels.

So nothing exciting in overnight soak. Water looks a little brown... kinda like when I’m done with a Pure rinseless wash. Must pull something out.

I’ve been washing with Griots mixed with a F&C detergent. IICR in one of their videos they recommended this as the MF detergent broke down waxes, sealants and polishes while the F&C cleaned out the dirt. Made sense to me. Worked great so far. Musta did good job pulling dirt and stuff out.

Will wash tonight.

So is this a dedicated detergent? Or does 2oz. of it need to be added to your normal microfiber detergent?

It doesn't say anything about using with anything else.

So just 2 oz. is going to make a whole entire load of microfiber drying towels absorb again? That’s a bold statement.

This is a dedicated detergent. TrC says if towels are hydrophobic to soak in 2-4ounces to a couple gallons. Soak for 12-36 hours.....

I’m soaking over 24hr and then wash with 2oz of R2R. Afterwards just maintain by washing with R2R

I'm beginning to think that my MF habits may turn out to be the easiest and also most economical.

For things that might prove difficult to later wash out of a MF towel, e.g. applying sealants or initial removal of sealants, I use Mike's favorite Cobra edgeless towels (Forrest Green, etc.). During a MF sale, get these for $10-15/doz. So I can get up to 3 doz. of these towels for about the price of a gal of MF cleaner. At that price, they are essentially disposable. Use once, give them a wash, and on to the junk towel bin. Also, no hesitation to cut one of these in to pieces to use in a variety of ways.

I reserve a quantity of Cobra Super Plush to be used only for final buffs that way they seem to not "accumulate" so much residue that they cannot be easily cleaned. 2+ years and still "feeling good Louis".

Then I have my PFM's that I use for drying only. No towel buildup from that, esp. since I specifically avoid (aka out of paranoia) using a drying aid to try to keep the PFM's as pristine as possible.

It says mine will be here tomorrow, which usually means I’ll get it Saturday if I’m lucky. Lol

Mine came a day early and I’m west coast too. You should be good.

Towels in dryer as we speak...

So dried and used a 16x16 pfm to dry a panel wiped down with Pure rinseless. Anyone who’s used it knows it wants to streak. I will usually dry and then wipe down with a TrC eagle or everest to clear streaks.

The pfm knocked it down by herself. Towel was still good but now like new.

I then sprayed down panel with water and wiped with 2face. Needs to be corrected so wasn’t worried bout towel

Dried it up jist fine. Woulda just pushed around before. This towel also felt softer. Like you could actually use for polish removal again. Wasn’t crispy but always felt “stiff”. Kinda like a new forrest green.

I’ve only pre soaked towels after coating. Towels definitely came out. Better but had a 24 hr soak. Was it the soak in general or the R2R? I decided to soak this in pure rinseless over night and wash with griots to see if it can be brought back.... see if it’s tge product or the soak.

In short product does what is says. I just don’t know if other products would fair as well with a long soak.

This towel was soaked in APC after initial use. Was hydrophobic since wash
