How UPS ruined my day but Autogeek saved it.

Hi,
I got some money for Christmas and it was burning a hole in my pocket so I decided to buy some stuff I had in my wish list for awhile on Autogeek. I placed the order and it got shipped pretty quick. Then the polar vortex happened and the shipments progress slowed a bit. I checked UPS's website daily and it finally made it to my local UPS hub and was supposed to be delivered on Monday. It never showed up so I requested a shipping update from UPS and it was delayed due to weather (the roads were bad I understood that). Same thing on Tuesday (the roads were pretty good). Finally the shipment showed up today. I was ecstatic, some of the things I ordered was an autographed edition of Mike Phillips new book, blackfire clay cleaner, 5 gallon wash bucket, wash and rinse labels, assorted backing plates, microfiber buffing pads, m100, interior cleaner, insulator wax, nitrile gloves, microfiber gloves, opc and clay. As soon as I open the box I new something was wrong. The packing paper in the box was wet and smelled like chemicals. Most everything was packed in the bucket except the book (thank goodness). Luckily Autogeek packs stuff in zip lock type bags. Except these bags were not sealed. I thought that was odd. I started sorting out the carnage (the blackfire clay cleaner bottle had a major malfunction). I called Autogeek up and talked to a pleasant guy and we came to a mutual consensuses on what needed to be replaced and what would be ok not to replace. The nitrile gloves were toast, one of the yellow backing plates had blue blotches on it, the microfiber pads were drenched along with the wash and rinse labels. Most of the labels on the bottles had seen better days (but thank goodness the book was ok). But something just was not right. The box was not damp or looked like it had been, it also was not the high quality type box you get from PBMG and it didn't have the PBMG type tape they use to seal it up. Upon a closer look the label had been cut off the original box by UPS and put on the new one. Now I got to wondering. I have never gotten anything from Autogeek in a zip lock type bag that was not sealed. So I am pretty sure UPS not only re-boxed my shipment but opened it and when through it and in the process didn't reseal the bags (which caused more damaged products). I wonder also if it was not delivered on Tuesday because they were re-boxing it and going through my stuff (the roads were not bad enough not to deliver)

I really appreciate the great customer service I received from Autogeek and their willingness to go the extra mile to take care of me. Especially when in my opinion UPS did most of the damage. So then I sat down to read my new book (the only thing I didn't have to clean). I opened the first page and there it is a big water spot right about Mikes autograph! Oh well I can live with it I think Autogeek is already out enough money due to UPS.

Things I learned:
1. Always check the weather before having liquid products shipped to you.
2. Always look for the PBMG packing tape on the box.
3. I hate polar vortexes.
4. If something leaks in a box it will get on thing you most want (the book)
5. But most importantly when something goes wrong Autogeek will take care of you. With the kind of customer service (that in my mind) will make you a lifetime customer.

You should have everything replaced an AG should file a claim with UPS, especially since it was apparent that it was not in the original box.

I didn't notice that the box or tape was different until after I talked to customer service. I wondered why the UPS driver was in bigger than normal rush to get back to his truck I think he was afraid I would notice the problem and have to deal with it.

Thats definately not AG touching that box, I would see who delivers your stuff and contact Ups management. I always receive my package with pbmg logo on the tape and it is boxed properly.... just like today =)

Sounds wild. Makes me think the original box was severely damaged (maybe on Tuesday a truck hit a bad spot and wrecked?), and that caused the damage.

I guarantee UPS changed the box after they damaged it or the product started leaking (because they left it out in the cold Monday and Tuesday instead of delivering it). What I don't understand is why they opened all the zip lock bags and why they didn't mention anything. They just dropped the box off at the door and booked. I am just glad that AG went out of there way to take care of me.

Shipping companies will re-box items if the original packaging is damaged. They are supposed to tell you it was re-packed so you can review the contents and file a claim if anything is damaged. I have never known UPS to not follow this protocol. I would contact them immediately. My guess, someone (maybe the driver) decided to review the contents and see if there was anything of "interest". You need to report this to them!

I personally had a box destroyed by UPS in transit during the holidays. I received a prompt notification from AG, and shortly thereafter received a shipping confirmation for a replacement. You CANNOT beat AG!

I agree they are good people.

Thanks I will check into it.

This. Same exact thing happened to me (and lost a few items in the process), which I thought was odd, but there you go.

Unfortunately this is not the first time UPS has done something like this to me. They once broke a 500 foot spool of wire and just wadded the wire up and put it in a box. It took some time to untangle it and wind it on a new spool. In all the years and all the packages I have received they have repacked several boxes and only put a "we had to repack this" label on one box. They never offered to have me inspect any repacked boxes contents. They dropped it at the door and ran back to their truck like they were on fire.

UPS TWICE in a row damaged two gallon containers before it got to me. I call to AG had the second shipment sent immediately. The second shipment, damaged and was sent back again before getting to me. I called AG and they next dayed my stuff to me to Ohio. AWESOME customer service. I WILL NOT BUY ANYWHERE ELSE

I will ups everyday for any product delivery, fed ex always delivers my shipments damaged, tracking sucks and if you have a damage, it's a fight to get it corrected. Ups is not perfect but I get whatever I order fast and Usually not damaged, fed ex air or ground plays soccer with anything I receive. I will only use ups for anything I order on line period. And ag packs their product fantastic ag and one day delivery from ag in Florida UPS awesome.

Ive had this same scenario and the OP and AG came through for me too. Its such a pleasure having a company that cares about their customers.

Same experience with AG. UPS damaged a shipment of Poorboy's APC/ Natural Look Dressing. AG had another order boxed and shipped the same day the notification of the damage was sent. They also threw in a tire spoke brush and a quick 'sorry' hand written on the shipping contents. Just can't beat the customer service.

U.P.S. is a shifty company. I recommend you request FedEx next time around

FedEx sucks! My ups driver gets a Christmas tip every year, ag and ups, what other businesses should learn, customer service.

I'm gonna request FedEx next time!! Didn't know I cld

Sent from my Z665C using AG Online
