How Warm To Detail?

Well I did my very first PC polish & wax job yesterday. I have to admit having some of the same feelings other newbies here have mentioned - fear of screwing things up, etc. - but all went fairly well.

To tell the truth, the swirls are still with me (I used XMT Swirl Remover 1 on an orange pad) and I'm wondering - it was about 50 degrees at the time, and since the car is in an unheated garage, I think the metal was fairly cold. Does that affect the polishing action? If so, how warm should it be before I pollish again?

I have 4 to do today and it will never see 45* outside!

I actually like the surface to be cold and the polish to be warm. I carry my sample bottles in my pocket.

I'm often asked.....
"Is that a sample of polish in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?"

"No matter who you are.....that was funny!"

Thanks you just answered a question i was about to post:applause:

So as long as the product is not freezing cold you can detail in colder temps? Mike...

This is a good topic because here in Canada the weather is quite cold and I'm curious to see it if will make a difference. I thought it was best to have the car cold...but I guess too cold wouln't be the best thing either.

4 Complete Details in 1 day :) $$$$$

Yesterday was about 50 here and with the help of wind my drying time was cut in half :)

HAha thats awsome

I have always thought it should be warm enough you can feel your hands. Especially since you use them so often. That said, Im from Florida and we detail 365 except leap year, when we rest !!

Really, good. I guess I can detail all year round too as long as I crank the heat on the garage hehehehe :D
