Hey guys. First let me say, I think this is one of our finest jobs and thought everyone here would enjoy it too...After a job like this it just makes you :hungry: for another one! This was about a 9 hour battle...from about 10 a.m till dark which was around 7 pm...lots of sun people, LOTS of sun

So heres the run down...my sister got us this job. This couple had mentioned they wanted to sell their 01' Suburban so my sis brought to their attention that we could help them sell it much faster. They only wanted a 'quick clean up' to help them sell it, but after explaining what we do and how much it will help...and that we did their neighbors RV a few doors down a month ago and it sold in a couple weeks....they agreed to at least let us polish it out and go for 65-70% correction...true to form, we went the extra mile and got even better than that...wet your appitite yet haha?

The day we did this job it was about 107 outside (yes, in the middle of September!) and we were working with very limited shade to say the least.

Heres a run down of our process/products JUST incase you wanna know (and I know you do).

First, engine detail

Soaked with Megs Degreaser 4:1/scrubbed (and scrubbed...and scrubbed) and then dressed with Megs Hyperdressing 2:1

Washed with Megs Shampoo plus

Clayed with Megs blue clay

Tires/Wheel wells cleaned with Megs Degreaser as well (usually use apc+ but these were BAD) and dressed with Megs Hyperdressing 2:1

Used a PC (original) buffer/ Megs 2.0 Softbuff Polishing pad (one pad for the whole SUV, i was very pleased) and USUALLY i'd used Megs D151, but i was almost out...so i remembered I had bought Pinnacles XMT #1-4 swirl remover's a couple months back from someone who was selling them for a very good price, so i decided to give Pinnacle XMT Swirl Remover #2 a try...thought about #3 for more correction, but figured #2 would finish up nicer...lets just say i got the best of both world with #2...I say i chose well:xyxthumbs:

First and foremost, i'd like to thank God for letting this tree grow here, because it provided the only shade we had! We had to move the SUV about 3 times just to keep whatever area we were working on in the shade. Funny how 8 feet of shade won't cover about 18 feet of SUV:confused:

Here's to you tree!

Tree_1_.JPG

Alright, lets get this party started...heres what we were working with

Driver_Side_Before.JPG

Yes, thats the before picture...doesn't look so bad right? Funny how from a distance the sun can make even a dirty vehicle look good....but lets take a closer look...

Hood_Before2.JPG

mmhmmm....crazy swirls...etched in water spots....go on go on...

Hood_Before_2.JPG

Another hood before shot...did i mention the crazy swirls and etched in water spots??

I like to do my write-ups with side by side pictures so...lets take a look at how it turned out.

Keep in mind...this was with a single pass on a polishing, not a cutting pad. Pinnacles XMT stayed quite oily as it broke down, and in this kind of heat...that was a good thing...it helped me get a good buffing cycle on each area...it was slow and grueling but heres how it turned out

Hood_After_2.JPG

Told you we got closer to 90%...here's another one

Hood_After.JPG

Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close up...

Hood_Sun_Shot_2_.JPG

And how about a few Brinkmann light pictures? Heres a good before:

Brinkmann_2_Before.JPG

anddd after...

Brinkmann_2_After.JPG

You can't hide from me swrils...i've got 4 eyes and all of them see you

Brinkmann_Before.JPG

Ok the paint is clear...now i'll move into the picture

Brinkmann_After.JPG

Isn't it lovely what the $5 car washes do? You really DO get more than what you pay for...

Rear_Before.JPG

It's ok quickie car wash places...I've got much love for you, you keep us in business and make our work look THAT much more dramatic...

Rear_After1.JPG

A quick tip on taking before/after pictures....if you put something in the picture as a sort of 'location marker'....in this case the 'Suburban' emblem, it really helps to show almost perfect before/after pictures...:Picture:

Now for what you've all been waiting for...the beauty shots!

She looks good from the side...

Driver_Side_After.JPG

The front...

Passenger_Angle_After.JPG

And the back (yes i turned the car around in the driveway just to take great sun pictures)

Back_After.JPG

Just another beauty shot...i'm not obsessed....seriously...im not

Back_Angle_After.JPG

This roof was fun, considering it was only about as long as a football field....

Roof_After.JPG

I call this one....Crouching Tiger Hidden Buffer :pc7424:<< (my sis says i look like that little guy)

Reflection_Shot_1_.JPG

Another reflection picture...

Reflection_Shot.JPG

And one more...since green is the theme it seems of this post (green truck...green tree, green polish)...lets give it up one more time for Mr. Tree

(continued below....)

All the interior work goes to my sisters credit. On top of helping me with the outside (especially with the hard parts like...where you have to do small areas by hand...) she also did the entire interior..

Heres a before of the back hatch...pretty dirty and dull

Back_Inside_Before.JPG

And the after...note this wasn't even a shampoo as they didn't want that done, but she still laid it out...

Back_Inside_After.JPG

Heres the front area after...she said she did the gas/brake pedal's just for me...she know's I have a touch of O.C.D so she's kind enough to help keep me as sane as possible

Driver_Front_After.JPG

This was suppose to just be a quick interior clean up since thats all they wanted, but like i said, we go the extra mile for our customers...so she couldnt just leave the leather all dirty....Heres the before

Driver_Arm-Rest_Before.JPG

And After

Driver_Arm-rest_After.JPG

And a quick before and after of the tires/wheel wells which she too took care of

Tire_Before.JPG

Tire_After.JPG

As I said at the beginning, we did the engine as well. Like i told the owner's...when people buy a car they always want to look under the hood....most dont know what the hell they're looking at lol, but if they see its super clean they'll think 'Hey, this guy/girl took good care of their SUV'

Well, I don't think it was detailed for about...erm...9 years or so (remember, its an 01', you do the math)...this is how it looked

Engine_Left_Before.JPG

But we fixed that

Engine_Left_After.JPG

Center shot before, can you tell we do occasionally get dust storms here?

Engine_Center_Before.JPG

Dirt and grime, be gone!

Engine_Center_After.JPG

Well everyone, thats it. I hope you enjoyed the write up, the pictures and my 1 a.m humor :). I leave you with one last picture, not because you haven't seen it before, but because it's so awesome I think you should see it again!

lol don't diss the Crouching Tiger Hidden Buffer pic! The angle was just way better so thats why it ended up like that.

My sis does way more than just give me a hand i'll tell you that. We're co-owners in this business and she pulls her own weight and then some:props:

I'm glad you liked the pictures and the write up...I wonder sometimes if its too long winded but, people usually seem to enjoy it...the kind comments and replies are much appreciated and I hope to have more write up's for you guys soon.

Oh and by the way, I forgot to mention we waxed it with Meguiars NXT 2.0 Tech Wax...see what I get for doing a 1 (now 2) a.m write up.

Great job on that tank! You have to keep us in the loop to see how quickly they sell that Burb!

I have started doing some of my longer posts in MS Word and then create two posts right at the beginning. Then you have some time (20 minutes) to go back to edit and make them right.

First off......an impressive job and very entertaining write up. I'm certain the owners were flat blown away. Even with two of you working so hard I'm amazed that you were able to complete so much real estate in one day especially in that heat. Ah, to be young again........

Fantastic! I love your humor! Unbelievable before and afters! You must have clients lined up around the corner!

Thank you! It was for sure a tank and then some. We'll be sure to keep you guys posted on how fast it sells. I told the owner I'd email him after pictures that he could use in his online sales ad's. I'll be sure to ask him to keep us up to date on when it sells. We're crossin our fingers that they'll hire us to do their 550i BMW...Black...that should be fun.

Good tip on the MS Word...i almost threw some things because when i finished the first part of the post, i saw 1 picture was wrong and clicked it and hit 'backspace' to delete it...and the computer decided to send me BACK to my previous webpage...erasing everything i just did! Luckily I had just did a quick 'copy' of the post, just to be safe, so i was able to just 'paste' it back and not have to go on a rampage :).

Thank you so much. The husband was dead set on selling it when we first picked it up from him, but after we took it back he was saying "Wow I don't really want to get rid of it now that it looks so good." :) Honestly I think we could have done it a couple hours quicker if we didn't have to 'shade hop' around the driveway...then wet down the hot pannels and dry them...and then buff them...and then move again lol. Tell you one thing...an EZ up tent is in the future for us as soon as we can afford it.

Fantastic! I love your humor! Unbelievable before and afters! You must have clients lined up around the corner!

Glad you enjoyed the humor, I try to make the write ups interesting :). Don't have clients lined up around the corner just yet but we're workin on it! Surely not scared of the work, we welcome it! We had a lot of looks all day from people driving by :props:...maybe some neighbors will come to us soon. Know anyone in Az who needs a detail? :)

wow you guys did a great job!

Thank you

Incredible job! Very nice work, customers always love and appreciate the people who go the extra mile for them! :props:

We always have from day 1..and we've been doing cars for 5 years. First 4 years were just wash/wax but this past year we've been pushing harder for more FULL detail jobs (now that we have the knowledge/skill/equipment etc) and so far we've had all satisfied customers.

Good job from Boise, Idaho

:dblthumb2:

Lol yeah thats where they were from, weather is a little different down here, I think they're getting use to it thou :).

nice job wills, i would of been thrilled if i was the owner... :)

What a BIG difference! And I know you had to be wiped out after doing such a large vehicle, in 100 degree heat, too! THAT shows dedication!

One question...what did you use to clean the leather with? It looks great!

:wow:

Great turn around. I wouldnt sell it after that lol

Thanks a lot Shawn,

Ive seen lots of your work on here so it means a lot for an excellent detailer like you to give us praise :)

nice job wills, i would of been thrilled if i was the owner... :)

Thanks Allen, I'll be using those 4" flats I got from you on the next one...they'll be perfect for a rowed area like on the roof of this thing:props:

:wow:

You've got that right...I was pretty drained...and quite dark when I finished but I couldn't stop looking at the SUV :).

We didn't have a dedicated 'leather cleaner' so my sis used Megs #39 Vinyl & Rubber cleaner...just a little bit goes a long ways.

If you thought THAT leather was bad look at the interior of this one we did a couple weeks back. Full write up at this link http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/28350-nasty-dodge-durango-interior-lots-pics-2.html ...it was nassssssty
