Hydro-tech Vs. CCS ?

Just came back to this thread and read this comment.
I will be using Megs Ultimate Compound and Megs Ultimate Polish.. so you say these are SMAT products, so it would be better to use LC CCS pads?

Too many pads haha

Yes the Meguiars UC and UP are SMAT based. It is not necessarily better or necessary to use CCS Pads - it is just that they have the ability to store 'unused' polish in the pad itself and then reintroduce it to the working face, which can then extend the buffing time. Well that is my understanding anyway.

So if you were to use the flat pads, you will still be able to work a SMAT based polish just fine. Some may argue achieving an even better result.

IMO if you are just starting out, don't break your head over it. I would simply grab some flat pads and be done with it. When you are a few details down and have a good feel for the products (polishes) you are using, then start worrying about experimenting with different pads.

I have used both CCS and Flat pads with both DAT and SMAT products, and whilst I have my personal preference, both work.

We are talking about a really small potential difference here, IMO.

^ agreed.

Flat Pads don't have the dimples that "store" non-broken down product and are completely flat, giving you a surface to break down the DAT polishes. Since you want to break down DAT polishes, you really don't want dimples storing un-broken-down polish.

That is why in general they are prefered for DAT and CCS are for SMAT.

But honestly, I'm sure at the end of the day, you could get good results with either pad/polish combo. But it just makes "sense" to use a flat pad with DAT.
