I did it!!!! I did it!!!! I did it!!!!!

Best of luck! Great implementation will enable you to achieve your dream!

Don't listen to the few haters on here. What does it matter that an Internet profile tries to scare you from your decisions. It's the damn Internet, a bunch of text and code Not an important part of your life. Those profiles don't even know you

You did something in the moment and out of passion, instead of calculating every single move and every single dime wasted. Money is just money. Money flows. It comes and goes.

Congrats dude

I think I'm on of the "haters" labelled, and yeah call me crazy, but listening to a motivational tape, and then quitting your job doesn't sound like the best thing. I'm happy he made a decision he likes, but it's not the greatest IMO. You gotta feed yourself, and dude could get cancer or hit by a car tomorrow, and with no health insurance he'd be in debt for the rest of his life....so yeah, it is about money, everything costs, unfortunately.

If he's just a single dude, living life, I get it, if he's still "young" I get it, but if he's got a wife, kids family, its just dumb.

Also, starting any business is hard, and mobile detailing and detailing in General is harder than most. It's a small clientele and market, and ask any pro here, it's hard. Based on OPs previous post history, he's wanting to hire marketing firms, and things not needed when starting a small business.

I walked in to work and resigned today....Last night was listening to Eric Thomas talk about your dream and going after your passions...Asked myself one question if I had a month to live would I die a fulfilled man...And I answered a resounding NO...So today begins a new chapter in my life...Wont be easy but I dare anything or anyone stand in my way...I have a plan with time limit goals for a detailing business and other personal goals....Appreciate all who have given advice..... Cosmin your posts has added great fuel to my Bonfire....In the words of Eric Thomas"I dont need a alarm clock my PASSION wakes me up" Wont be on here much will be busy building my goals and dreams...Thanks everyone

Best of luck to you.

And this is why the OP shouldn't have quit his job. He wants $150 /hr to detail, and yet he's never really detailed a car. Oh and apparently most of you pros are wasting time at 30/hr. Post history suggest dudes just in this for the LOLZ or....dunno

This kids is why you don't listen to former NFL cornerbacks who make motivational tapes.

It's not like basketball, you can't just grab a basketball and be Jordan. The problem with detailing is anyone can grab a DA do a little work and think they're Mike Phillips.

What a come back!!!!! I guess it pays to do a little research :xyxthumbs:

If he is :hungry: enough he can make a go at it but.....

I agree with you that there are a lot of uncertainties, but without uncertainties we would not be living in America. We shall see what the future brings him. Best of luck and hope that Obamacare is better for you than it is for me.

Plan is to pass out 75 cards a day min. On Monday,Tuesday marketing days Wednesday-Saturday detail On detail days hand out 25 cards min. Talk to 10 people secure 2-3 jobs..Plan for now keeping very close records so I can see how many people I need to talk too to book a job...Its a numbers game for me Numbers dont lie

I can't stand that phrase... so many people say "it's a numbers game"

Knock on enough doors and you'll land a job

75 cards a day is a lot... Can it be done? 100% positively correct it can

but...Are there far more effective strategies that require less time, more thinking, and better ROI?.... yep, 100%

^ You may not like the phrase, but I make my living in sales, and any professional sales organization keeps detailed stats on a myriad of things in the sales process. Bottom line, there is a linear relationship between "number of approaches" and "sales." Put simply, the harder you work, the luckier you get. But if you would care to share the more effective strategies, I'm sure many of us would be all ears.

Good luck man! I bought a car wash last winter. Three months of harsh Michigan weather put me out of business. Hopefully your overhead isn't going to kill you, if things get slow. Again, good luck!

i think we can all agree targeting 5 people fitting our exact ideal customer will be more effective then handing out 75 cards to people

it only turns into a numbers game when you actually know who you're targeting, where the customers are at, what their triggers are to buying, etc...

it's pretty basic stuff but I see people skip that step all the time

EX: people who say they're gonna go to the mall and handout flyers/cards just because there's a bunch of traffic in the mall.. as oppose to sponsoring a car forum or getting in contact with a member from a car club

I'm sure you see this stuff all the time too

i am glad that post did it`s job :))
all i can say , is eliminate the fear and believe in your skills , sharp you selling skills , and be ready to reinvest for the next 2-3 years at least.
and don`t forget , if you just start and have the prices lower, rise them as soon as you get your skills, if not you will be locked in a low prices and will be hard to run a decent business.

i will have a few updates to that post, some new changes i worked on. i feel like i waist my time detailing , so i have some new adventures coming soon.

Exactly what I did. Honestly, I was the worst to wake up, even with an alarm and a grumpy gf. LOL

Now I don't even use an alarm for the most part and my passion wakes me up. I was always on that ledge and then I finally did it and I haven't been happier, let alone the fact that I almost quadrupled my salary. No brainer.

Don't let ANYONE step on your dream. Your hard work will shine more than anything you can ever say. Pun intended.

Congrats and Goodluck!
