I hate to even open this door....

Sorry Georgia. I don't include all southerner's as rednecks I should've made that clear. I see a redneck as a ignorant, prejudice, bigot. My dad, mother, soon to be father in-law are all rednecks, and they are born and bred in Ohio. I love my parents, but I think they need their eyes opened a little more. They all just see black, white, yellow, red; not human being. I see it as this: We all bleed red, and we all breath the same air, there is no color, only humanity. It took me a long time and a lot of drugs to realize that. Yes I was heavy into a lot of bad things, and you know what marijuana and pyschotropic's opened my mind and made me realize all this. But that's a whole different story.

Point is race and gender shouldn't be a issue, but it will be to certain people because they are too stuck in their ways to put aside what they've been taught and to look at the bigger picture.

As for you 300, do you have a problem with someone being for Gay marriage? I think it should be allowed. Who cares what someone does in the bedroom, or what have you. As long as they are not hurting or threatening you, I don't see a problem. I worked with many gay people, and never thought twice about it.

As for the rest of it, who cares, we all know that they can't keep half the promises they make. Call me disillusioned but when I was in Europe for the last presidential election, and voted absentee then find out that the absentee votes weren't counted, it really made me go, what's the point.

The popular vote doesn't matter. Who the people want in doesn't matter. It's whoever is the electorate that matters. And call me crazy but I have a sneaking suspicion it's not any of us on here. It's more the people that are already in power...

Ok stepping off my high horse now.
There is a world of difference between allowing them to marry each other and whatever they do in the bedroom...
However it's wrong when you teach your kids (especially at young age) how good to be coc#suckers...

I'm sure McCain will win this election, ever wonder why republicans started that war in Georgia??? McCain's rating is going up...And after reading more about both of them, I probably wouldn't even mind him winning and change my mind on republicans...Main problem with democrats taxing oil companies - they will also pass it on consumer, like in Europe...Now, I don't wanna pay what Europe pays for gas...NO WAY!

And more importantly, why is Obama kissing his running mates wife all the time!

Simple. It's a lovin' campaign! Everybody huggin', kissin' and havin' a good time! They're lovin' peeps! :D:D:D If they win, there's gonna be alot of huggin' and kissin' going on!!! hehe...

Well either way this country is gonna have a huge first!

I hate to say it but McCain for the win I think. There's a lot less rednecks that think a woman can't do the job, then there are prejudice rednecks that think a "black muslim" (even though he's not muslim), can't do the job. It saddens me that there are that many bigots in our country.

And no matter who wins, we're still screwed. They'd have to be in there 8 years, and get full working cooperation of congress and the Supreme Court to get anything done. And well lets face it. Not gonna happen.

An interesting read:

The NY Times is not exactly a right wing publication.

This is why no one should post a thread on politics or religon. This is a detailing forum.

Supercharged,

While I agree with quite a few of your opinions, your delivery MIGHT have seemed a little harsh to most. This is the "off topic" section of the forum and fair game for anything but I know that I would appreciate it if your responses were above the belt and civil. Most of the other posters here would probably agree with me.

I have only been on this forum a short while but have learned a tremendous amount in that time. I also realize that you have been here a LONG time and I look forward to your candid responses on some topics. I hope that this posting by me is not taken wrong by you but in the spirit it was delivered.

I was warned by my late father to never argue politics or religion with strangers in public but here goes. This pick for republican VP is a breath of fresh air for politics. Not being a Washington insider is a plus.It appears that she has more pratical experience then the other three put together.
As a late country singer/songwriter once said " Live like you're not afraid to die. Don't be scared, just enjoy your ride" -Chris Ledoux
So hang on boys and girls, this election is starting to get interesting.

religion and politics are opening a can of worms ...

I just think McCain's claims about Obama's lack of experience just went out the window. As evidenced by many of the above posts (like those that brag about NRA memberships as if it really meant something important, BTW I am a member of AAA), many on both sides have their minds made up and they will vote by party no matter who is the candidate since they have pre-conceived prejudices against the other party. The same is true for supporters of Democrats. It is up to us people in the middle to decide the candidate.

Bet McCain wishes he were kissing his running mate! Then again in the spirit of this thread he would have to be kissing her husband!!

Brilliant decision by McCain. Could get him a lot of the Clinton voters because she's a woman. Nice choice in my eyes.

Way to go Meghan!.... I think could be a very "civil" thread and above all...VOTE young lady!

I really like the Gov of Alaska as a V.P. choice: Shoots, hunts, fishes, snowmobiles, probably details a car or 2. Or at the very least, would jump right in to assist.

She's not been drugged by Washington politics and hopefully never will.

A lot of young people (my daughters included) like Obama because he's "for change" but when I ask them "what change?" ... they are as unspecific as he is. That's what worries me.

Anyhow, this is a pretty friendly bunch on this board and it's a pretty nice topic.

His connection to Ayers etal???

I have to agree with most of what you said here... One thing I would like to add is how much is that change going to cost us?

I don't believe that the mention of the NRA has anything to with something important... Just to show where they are aligned.

How did Obama's lack of experience go out the window? I find this a very important point in this election. I also find it very hypocritical of Obama's campaign to point to Palin's lack of experience.

As a question for everyone.... What piece of legislation has Obama sponsored? The answer is none, so what change is he going to bring?

I guess you can move to Canada and wait in line for FREE health care or move to Mexico and work for little of nothing and hope the local crooks or politicians don't steal ya blind.I think I'll stay here in the great old USA and work within the political system we have.

Bunky,
You are absolutely right, my mind is in fact already made up. I guess you totally missed the point, being a member of the NRA has a great deal to do with the election process, its members are aligned for the protection of the 2nd amendment of the U.S. bill of rights. The NRA the single most powerful lobbying organization in the United States. It is also the oldest continuously operating civil liberties organization in the United States with more than four million members. Do I brag about being a member, absolutely.
