AG'S PACKING PEANUTS.

i have ordered on occasion from AG on and off over the past five or six years. the one part of the experience that i absolutely despise is dealing with the peanuts. every time, when i open the first panel of the box i get bummed that they haven't gotten away from these stupid thangs.

and it's not even the peanuts, as a concept. it's this type of peanut. these break up during shipment, are ultra sensitive to static, etc.

there are a lot of options out there, including biodegradable peanuts that don't have roller coaster pricing dependent on oil markets, don't have static issues, don't break up, etc.

i know there are countless threads on this issue but i feel that strongly about it that i must make another thread where all of us can put a hand on the next guy's shoulder and tell him "it's ok, i understand." hahaha

I hate them too!

I just throw in the comment when I Order and ask for paper they will take care of you :dblthumb2:

If I'm not mistaken I think I remember reading that you can request an alternative.

Everytime this comes up I suggest the corn starch peanuts, but as noted above, they HAVE provided an alternate which is to request paper packaging in the comments section of the order screen.

Although I do have to say it was no picnic on my last order trying to get all the paper flattened out to put in the recycling...however it wasn't as bad as the peanuts.

wow thanks guize i had no clue that was available, haha. i could have saved myself a lot of aggravation!

i will DEFINITELY be requesting paper.

Crutch field has peanuts that dissolve in water. Always fun to watch them disappear in the rain.

I don't care how they pack my stuff as long as it gets to me safe and sound. I've gotten both peanuts and paper from AGO, and it comes safe and sound :dblthumb2: I just hate it when it takes 4 days to go from South FL. to N. Fl.

My stuff comes if perfect condition every time with peanuts, I like peanuts. It makes me feel like I'm digging for gold! Only you strike gold every time!!

Agreed!

I don't mind the peanuts, its the careless garbage man that dumps my can's all in a hurry and makes it snow in my yard and i live in Florida no snow here.lol

call me crazy but i'd rather not have to deal with little white staticky pieces all over my goods/floor/inside the box that i need to break down for recycling and anything else that happens to be within a 10 foot radius of the box i'm opening. even if i put a bag over the box whilst opening it and empty them into the bag...it doesn't matter. they end up getting on all sorts of stuff and i need to pick them out/up/off. it makes me want to spin kick the box and then light it on fire with napalm. i just want to open the box, get the stuff i ordered out and move on. i'm in the same industry as AG (automotive aftermarket) and a majority of it relies heavily on packing, and trust me that there are tons of very affordable enviro-friendly static-less options aside from this.

it's annoying, but alas there is a solution re: requesting paper so that i will. but why they'd just not choose better peanuts to start i'm unsure.

Yes, ever since you posted that about the request for no peanuts I don't get peanuts anymore. Your a genius. Thanks for the tip. They do pack a lot of paper but it's to protect the products.

I hate the peanuts too. But I ask for paper in the comments box. So no problem at all.

maybe the AG folks will read this thread and go automatically to paper and only use peanuts if asked to.

With my very first order i was so excited to have it that i did the back stroke on the peanuts like Scrooge McDuck in his tower of money!

nah there have been many threads about this hehe, so i doubt that. they surely have their reasons.

but your idea seems legitimate.

My one order I had the paper. The peanuts are nice if you send stuff yo others. I've been parting a car out and have used the peanuts to pack stuff. That or give em to your kids and tell them they have to clean up their mess or they don't get ice cream. Both have worked for me

I love the peanuts, but mostly because I ship a lot and reuse them. Not to mention I now have free packing material. I just wish they were the anti-static ones.
