Signed up and paid $110 dues.

Should have done this couple years ago.

Will begin the online test soon---kinda freaked out what is in the test!

Found a detail website that showed a peak view of some sample questions---Don't have a clue!
Act of a rotary on paint is a burn...

What!?? Burn? All the time I've been on this forum--never heard of a paint burn as process of finishing off paint!!!!

Me thinks I'm gonna mess up! Lol...

If you leave a rotary in one spot, it'll burn through quick!

Perhaps they're referring to a friction burn ?

Or maybe they were truncating the word burnish, which is an accurate description/synonym for polishing.
 
To literally remove paint from a vehicle due to the friction generated by a rotary buffer is called paint burn

First time I have heard it put like that.

Don't think I much agree with it either.

Just looked up IDA and it looks like they are based about 10 miles from me in Roseville.

I don't think a company such as Lake Country would sell very many "Paint Burning" pads.

Just sayin'............
 
If I get this right---paint burn is the term used for correcting/polishing paint.
Correct me if I'm wrong!

Paint Burn is when you go through the clear coat usually on an edge when you hold a rotary or DA, usually on an edge. Yes its called burning.... Im sure the IDA has a glossary of terms
 
I have never heard that term in all the classes (MTE, webinars, Detail Fest) that I have taken, and most were taught folks that are IDA Skills Validated.

Maybe Mike P. can weigh on the terminology.
