I am deep into the last inning negotiating a new car purchase in Naples Fl.

It is a black CTS V wagon that evidently has been on the lot for some time.
I had noticed a couple of fairly deep scratches and a bird bomb crater on the hood when they pulled it out for me to look at it before test driving it but that had just rinsed it off and not washed it at that time and I didn't want to grind whatever was laying on the finish deeper into it and figured I would get a good look after it was washed.

Finishing up the paperwork around dark I decided to do a walk around on the car after it was washed for delivery before signing anything permanent.

Fortunately for me the car wash guy parked it under the big outdoor halogen lights and all was revealed.
The scratches on the hood are deep and I doubt I can get them completely out, the entire car has been washed by the uninformed for its entire stay at the dealership so the entire car will need a correction.
But the hood and drivers A pillar have some curious issues, there is a 1' X 2' patch on the hood that has DA marks on it and what may be overspray. I am a good 6 hours away from home, and I have none of my detailing arsenal including my paint thickness gauge, to even any QD of MF towels.

I will be more than happy to pay CASH for someone's time to meet me at the dealership, look the car over and prep me an estimate for the correction/ machine polishing etc.
I need it for a bargaining chip, due to the rarity of this car they are being very unwilling to deal.

Bad thing is, the dealership is only open until noon today and I am due to go back home tomorrow.

Please text to 3053932873 or call 3053951960.

Thanks in advance
Gary C

Giving you a call...

Scott, you are a gentleman!:applause::dblthumb2:
For all...
Scott showed up, brought his paint thickness meter. And helped me save over 5k.
Then wouldn't accept a penny for his time and indicated I could have come over for dinner on Christmas Eve.
There aren't many of his caliber and I feel priveledged to have met him and be a part of the same AG Bretheren.

I may have to do some paint work eventually but meanwhile I will do a correction on the car, and if it bothers me too much I may put a flat black 3m stripe on it to cover it up.

It now has 68 miles on it.

WOW! I am sorry, but I gave-up on your thread for sure that noone would come to your rescue like Scott did.
I figured your timeline was to short, and just not enough notice, combined with some randome chance you'd find one here on AG willing, free, and able to meet your needs, who would also have to be reletively close.
APPLAUSE: CROWD CHEERS: "Scott, Scott, Scott..."YEAAHHH!!!
Simply awsome sizzle chest.

Without a doubt Scott is first class and the best!
I am so happy to read that he was able to help out, but I am not surprised at all that he made this happen.

Gary! It was nice meeting you, your wife and seeing your future ride today!

I was sincerely glad to help you out and am ecstatic that my assistance helped you save $5K! That's awesome.

Well, congrats on your new bad ass wagon! Enjoy it in good health in the New Year!

Wow! I am warmed by the generosity of folks here and there have been several examples of that over the years here. We all enjoy the wonderful nature of the business side of AG...the incessant and unequalled customer service providing the highest quality products and the ubiquitous presence of Mike P. and his wonderful personality and willingness to help all of us.

But its the people here that make this whole thing work. People like Sizzle Chest who are willing to give of themselves in ways like this. He did it for the satisfaction he got himself by helping another Geeker out. And boatmangc publically expressing appreciation for this act of compassion, kindness and help. My hat's off to both you guys however it is just the most recent example of the people we have here.

It was a wonderful Christmas present this morning to read this!

Love that azzz!

Now the correction begins, the car was on the lot for most of a year, bird bomb craters, major water spots and a few deep scratches.

Hey Mike, want a new project for your shows?
Stuart isn't that far, this thing needs some serious work!!

^^^Glad to see you guys made it back safe and sound with the new whip Gary! Can't wait to see some 'after' shots!

Enjoy it!

Amazing story, so glad it worked out for everyone.

Sorry to hear such a legendary vehicle was neglected so badly by the dealership that it may take vinyl stripes to cover it up!

Great thread to read! Perfect example of how a common interest/hobby can bring out the best in people. Great job Scott! Show up with your paint gauge at the dealership... show them they can't mess with us, because we know the truth!
