I was at Chemical Guys today, saw something interesting..

I was thinking about all of this and it struck me...
The other day I was at the local Mirror Glaze and talking with the owner/friend and I asked him what he knew about the new microfiber system. He proceeded to tell me about microfiber towels. He had no idea about the MF system.

I think only us geeks might be anxiously waiting for this new system. Maybe the rest of the detailing world isnt keeping tabs on it?

I dont know but that just struck me.

And Jason if I drive out to Cali from Louisville can I meet up with you too?

Distributors have not been presented or trained on the new Meguiar's DA Correction System yet. (Soon.) So, it's understandable that your distributor did not know about it yet.

Dude, if you drive out here I will definately meet up with you. But I can think of many other...better...reasons to drive to California.

Sorry Jason, for years I've been an avid Meguiar's user and usually I'm a staunch supporter, but I have to call 'em like I see 'em. On this one I really think the "marketing efforts" relating to this product launch have been a bit misguided/mismanaged.

The school of business and marketing I prescribe to says you should under-promise and over-deliver, and that's not the sense I've been getting from the commentary and "teasers" that have been posted around the web thus far. Just look at the reactions you're getting in the thread over on MOL about the MF system, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I'm fully prepared to eat my words if you guys can prove me wrong (and frankly, I hope you do!) but until that time, mark me down as a skeptic by virtue of the excessive shrouding that has been going on. I totally understand if you guys are experiencing production and distribution constraints to get the product kicked out the door, but if all the development work is finalized at this point there's no reason not to hatch it from its gestation tube, provide some detailed technical information, and let the people who have used the system post reviews and demonstrations.

I mean no disrespect to you or anyone else at Meguiar's, I'm just providing a bit of critical feedback (which hopefully won't land me in the kind of hot water I got myself into a few years back for being critical of the G110 launch). My main focus is not on trying to break Meguiar's down maliciously; quite to the contrary, I hope to see Meguiar's be as successful as possible!

:props:

You're not in hot water with me! It would take a lot more than your critical feedback to do that.

But since you are into critical feedback, may I offer some for you?

I love feedback. My job depends on it. Our product development depends on it. But I prefer feedback that is useful to me. Telling me that "your launch is misguided and mismanaged" isn't too helpful to me. (Heck, I already knew that! haha.) Saying "I prefer product launches that are short, informative, low drama, not a lot of hype, and less secretive" might be another way to express what you mean? Making an "I" statement instead of a "you" statement helps me to hear what you are saying without the risk of ruffling my feathers. I can never be offended by someone expressing their preference. We all have preferences.

There are many reasons for our product launch rolling out the way it has thus far. I can assure you that a master plan to frustrate the online community is not one of them.

I can understand...and feel!...the frustration. It was completely unintentional. This DA System is the 5th major Meguiar's project I have had the priviledge to be a part of. Some launches go smooth. Some don't. Ultimately, in the end...if a great product is launched and it's well received, then that's what matters.

I'm fairly confident...based on critical feedback...that most detailers doing high volume paint correction will love this system. We are doing everything we can to get it into your hands as soon as possible.

But for the moment...yeah...I'm right their with ya on the frustration part. I wish you had the stuff in your hands already! And I wish we didn't upset you with the delay.

i am with you on this one! i like some of meguiars products, use many of there waxes, polishes and dressings from all of their lines, but this is getting a little old. We are talking about polishing pads for gods sake, not a revolutionary break-through in anything important in the grand scheme of things.

i'll stick with the polishes of another brand i use now, given i get a flawless finish with those in a reasonable period of time. A brand that got its reputation through its excellent results and popularity from user (easily accessible) reviews.

unless they have somehow come up with a system that produces a finish better than flawless. ????

I respectfully disagree. We are talking about a system approach that is more than just a pad.

A system that produces a finish better than flawless? Well, flawless in the true sense of the word...I have never seen that paint finish. Ever. But I think I know what you mean. And the only thing I can think of that would be a finish better than flawless is...flawless faster.

I'm happy to help him out if I can.

Kurt, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you. I enjoyed our conversation about your favorite products and your car care hobby. Thanks for your time!

I have seen the MF pads in question. They look just like the MF prototype pads
Meguiars was testing (and scrapped) about four years ago!

Welcome to 2006 fellas. :props:
