This brand new vehicle was brought to us to receive a ceramic coating for superior protection. Upon inspection it became clear that the vehicle was not at all cared for by the dealership before it was sold. There were some incredibly deep scratches, water spots, and marring over the entire vehicle. I discovered that one of the doors had also been repainted, which was not disclosed to the owner at the time of purchase.

The new owner was not seeking perfection for this soon-to-be daily driver, so our one step correction process was selected to help remove some of these defects before applying a ceramic coating for protection. Moral of the story, don't assume that buying a new car means you're getting a perfect vehicle. Thoroughly inspect, or hire a professional to thoroughly inspect, every inch inside and out. It will save you time, money, and a lot of headache down the road.

Process
Wash: ONR
Decontaminate: Medium Grade Clay & Nanoskin Mitt with Glide for lubrication
Correction: HD Adapt on Orange Light Cutting Pads via Rupes LHR21ES, Griot's BOSS G21, and Rupes LHR75e
Paint Prep: 50% IPA Solution
Paint Protection: 22ple VX3 Signature Coating
Wheel Protection: CarPro Reload
Tires: WaxAddicts Tyre Dressing
Glass: Meguiar's D120

A considerable amount of bonded surface contamination was present. This is not uncommon on new vehicles as they have often spent a fair amount of time being transported by boat, truck, and/or rail. They may then sit on a dealer lot for some time as well. All of this leads to rough feeling paint and must be removed with detailing clay.

The paint had clearly been neglected prior to being purchased by the new owners, but our one-step correction process was bringing it back to life.

The left rear door had clearly been repainted. Here we can see evidence of sanding marks that had carried over onto the left front door.

The paint coating was then baked with infrared lamps to accelerate curing and increase hardness.

The end result was a glossy vehicle that should be properly protected for years.

Just a quick write up this time... thanks for reading :)

Stunning! Love the rainbow shots during application.

I see it says TDI on the back, I wonder if it is affected by the VW scandal considering audi and vw share parts

Beautiful transformation as always Zach! That black paint now looks like it belongs on a new car.

Did you happen to get any paint readings from the normal paint vs. the repainted door? I wonder if the owner will contact the dealer to find out what happen on the affected door and why it was repainted.

Thanks for sharing.

you are absolutely right I was thinking on and off about supplement more income from inspecting cars for the general public before a purchase, the only problem is I'm not a certified mechanic, and I think besides social media it would take gobs of cash to market this.Theres a guy in Cali that deos this everyday for a living.I seen so many customer cars repaired paint wise,my friend bought a used cts v in black the whole car was repainted and still paid 60k I didn't dare to say anything.

you can't trust carfax is someone gets in a accident and self pays it will never be reported.

Beautiful work and photography as always Zach.

It varies by state but damages under $2,000 don't need to be disclosed in most states. I guess that is where having a 3rd party inspect a new car comes into play.

However, just about every dealer has a PTG, just ask them to go around your new car with it.

The more & more 22ple I see the more I like! They will make a huge splash at SEMA setting the new bar for coatings.

Lovely!

As the owner of a new black car, who is awaiting arrival of goods from PBMG before attempting first detail, this was very eye opening. Thanks!

It looks so new! (wink wink)... Nice Job! Nice save... It's a good thing the owner found you to correct the horribleness created by the dealership.
Thanks!

Negative. This larger engine system is treated with DEF.

Thanks Mike! Yep - readings were in the low to mid 100 micron range (as pretty typical) on all panels except the rear door which read mid to high 200 micron range... this isn't a huge difference as we often see repainted panels at 300-500 microns, however it was enough of a clue to have me look closer at the panel. Upon visual inspection I found a couple of small solvent bubbles and a slight difference in texture between the adjacent panels which confirmed my suspicion that the are had been repainted. Shining an inspection light on it, as shown above, further confirmed my hunch when I saw the sanding marks.

Surprisingly the owner didn't seem too concerned with the news when I presented it to him. I would certainly be contacting the dealer.

Nah, this is a 3.0L V6 diesel, the cars impacted were the 2.0L 4cyl diesels.
^what he said

Yep - very true. My personal vehicle, which was a 1 owner leased vehicle, has a clean car fax yet 2/3 of the vehicle has been repainted. This is something I have seen on a lot of vehicles. CarFax is a joke in my personal opinion.

Outstanding job as always my friend!
Thanks!

Tremendous products... we've been testing them side by side against some of the most popular coatings on the market and the 22ple products do not disappoint. It's a very underrated brand here in the US and hopefully they'll create a bigger market for themselves with some enhanced marketing in the future.

Wow!..one step? Looks amazing!

Incredible work!! You are a very talented Artist!
Thank you!

Gorgeous work!

Thanks! Hopefully yours is in considerably better shape.

How do you like the 22ple?

I love it. Their first generation of coatings were great, and their latest revisions (22ple VX Pro2 and 22ple VX3 Signature) are an improvement on the already great first gen.

You can see my full review and application guide of VX3 Signature on the Detailed Image Ask-A-Pro Blog...and my article for VX Pro2 should be published later this year.

Feel free to PM me if you have any further questions.

-Zach

Great job! I haven't use all of the coatings but out of all the ones I have used I like it the best. Ease of use, gloss, it has everything you want. As long as claimed longevity is true
