If I like Turtle Wax Ice... Then...

Can the 845 be used on all surfaces like ICE? Any wax-dust?

My dad was using ICE for a few months. I brought over Collinite 845 and put a fresh coat of ICE on half the hood then a fresh coat of 845 on the other half. I then used the sheeting method on the hood and there was a noticeable difference between the two. Collinite 845 shed water much quicker and left less water than ICE.

I checked out the Nano website... Sounds interesting! Is there wax-dust? Can it be used on all surfaces such as black-trim, etc/.?

One small step better IMO that is OTC - Eagle One Nano Wax.... I have used ICE once and tossed it.... love the Nano wax though :dblthumb2:

Not sure about the trim - won't hurt it.... but won't shine it either I think. And no, no dust - it is a spray on wipe/buff off. For an otc - I really like it - I use to put it on my Black Durango after every wash way back in the day - before getting into auto detailing.... and I loved it - still keep it in my mobile arsenal present day for certain situations.

I've got #845 on black rubber trim before, it isn't made for trim. don't look too good on there but it doesn't stain it white if you wipe it off right away. If you want to do trim too maybe you should try a clear sealant like Opti-Seal or UPGP.

845 can be used on metals and paint. Can't use it on rubber or plastic trim, but it won't stain it as long as you wipe it off.

It's really a nice wax for the price. But if your really looking for something that can be used for everything try what Tuscarora Dave suggested with the Opti-seal or UPGP.

And I agree with BobbyG on this as well. It's all about what you like. Make some purchases or get some samples from people and try them out.

B&B, How easy is the E1 Nano to use in winter? Easy on - easy off is the only reason I'm using Ice in the winter. It gets freakin' cold here in PA. With that and all the road salt trying to maintain some protection is a pain. 'Course from what I get on the forums using 845 may make this a moot point. But it's always nice to have a backup.

Where is PA? Near Altoona here. From what I'm reading here and around the boards... I'll do some combination of products. But until the weather breaks a bit... I'll continue with the ICE for now.

I tried the Ice paste and didn't like the application, and I'm a paste wax guy. I got it mostly for the non-staining on trim. Tried the liquid and liked it better for application, but now use it on the snow blower, lawn tractor and tool boxes because it's easy to use on them.

I don't think it's bad, but there are probably better waxes. Like Mike says, find something you like and use it often. If you like Ice, and the results it gives you, go for it! I prefer ice (cubes, not shaved) in my gimlet as opposed to chilled and strained. lol

Another big fan of E1 Nano here for maintenance. I use it in the winter without a problem.

Out of curiosity.. I put a call into the TW-ICE folks about a formula change. Might you remember where you read about this? Thanks!

The topic of Turtle Wax seems to drive some people into fits. I remember when ICE first came out to much fanfare, however it was not durable and expensive compared to other OTC products. I do know that TW has revised the formula for better durability. (as an aside, I did pick up TW Ice spray wax and found it to be very good). If you are happy with the results, then you are ahead of the game.

However many people (myself included) are on the quest for bigger and better products/techniques to really improve our detailing experience. I have been fortunate enough to try several DP, Poorboys and Pinnacle products that I wound have never known about without this site.

The new packaging included an advertisement about increased durability vs the original formula.

Gimlet?! I think you might be showing your age! lol I prefer ice cubes in my Maker's Mark!

I would suggest optimum optiseal. Looks great no white residue goes on all surfaces and you wipe on and walk away, no removal.

I tested this stuff called Liquitech against Meguiars NXT 2.0 and it was extremely easy to apply and seemed to have better durability than NXT 2.0, but I have to repeat the testing to see how it goes the second round. Hopefully I will get to a second round of testing this week.

I hit all the local auto-stores today to buy this... And it's a no-go! Anyone purchased this? If so, where?
