if ya dont have one, get one

Questions for all you guys moving from a PC to a flex... Which model flex do you recommend moving into (3401,3403, etc...) and dose the Porter Cable pads work with the flex? Does the flex have the same velcro backing plate?

One of them is a rotary, the other a DA. The 7" Meguiars 9207, 8207, 7207, fit the flex nicely. They are the washable ones.

I've had a flex 3401 for a couple of months now and have to use it, however I read that you do not need to oil anything. The need to oil any parts of the flex were resolved with the newer built models.

Does this make any sense to anyone? I dont know how true this imformation is, i dont recall where i read it either.

I hope you're right, cause I read the manual and it said nothing about oiling anything.

I did take the plate off and noticed a felt right around the gearing.

Packing peanuts suck! In my haste and anticipation to dig into the box to retrieve goodies I always have 'em all over the place. Cleanup is elusive and they're impossible to pour into the trash bin without spillin' 'em all over the place. They end up stuck to arms, legs, shoes and everything else and you end up picking at 'em individually. Dunno how environmentally friendly they are either...

I prefer the inflated-pillow packaging. I always save some for use when I have to send something. Handy to dispose of too... just give 'em a poke, deflate 'em and you're done.

Packing peanuts are evil!

TL <--- my peeve for the day

When you place your order with AG in the comments box ask for recycled packaging and AG will use paper. Paper can be recycled. FTW. Peanuts cannot be recycled. FTL

This is one of the things I really like about AG. WTG Max!! :righton:

If I were you, I would call AG, if this is were you got your Flex and ask for clarification on oiling the felt ring. Or PM Killr, he had some problems and would know.

i would also like to go on record saying i hate the packing peanuts lol.

i'm also curious about the felt ring needing oiling. i just got my flex a few weeks ago but have no used it yet.

Some of us oil out of advisements, while others don't and still have no problems. Personally, I oil mine with a light household lubricant (3in1, gotta love that smell) or even sewing machine oil.
