If you've never heard of Paul Dalton

Oh I'm not a hater, I think he's gotten himself into a great position. But someone like lets say DaveKG that post on another forum Paul seems like a detailer. Nothing that he does isn't something a lot of members here who AREN'T pros do on weekends. But yeah Props to him for getting himself in that position and thos clients who will pay him that much for his work.

That other UK detailer however I think is a douche (the video that I posted).

For those that say "it's rape" or "I'd never pay it" for what he charges. He doesn't deal with small time chumps like us and I include myself as a small time chump. If you have one or more half million + dollar cars about then what he charges to perfect them is small time. If I had untold millions invested in cars and the life style to go along with that what's $8-10K to keep them perfect? Pocket change! You can't think small and even begin to fathom the type of wealth that he deals with on a daily basis. For me and most others here it can only be imagined. I admire the guy for the type of business he has built and the clientele he has cultivated.

Well...I don't know they hype, just seen his video's. I think his work speaks for himself. And for him to have a wax formulated for him through Siwssvax, then I'd say he's pretty good at what he does.

I feel Migliore bestowed a similar, very prestigious honor by: Naming/Blending one of their premier, luxury waxes: Migliore Presidenziale.

I'm sure Barry Theal was very pleased with that decision.:)
I know I am impressed!!

To say that Barry's "pretty good" at what he does, though, would be quite an understatement, IMHO.

I don't think Paul Dalton is anymore talented than other pro detailers on this and other boards. I think he has marketed himself in a way that makes people think he is something more than a detailer. More power to him I suppose, but I know I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I charged someone $10k for any detailing service....

Even after purchasing a year or two's worth of Sominex or Unisom, you would still have plenty of dough left over! :D

J/K :)

If I was considered just semi-independently wealthy, I still would not spend that kind of money for a "detail service". Rather, I'm sure I'd have a hankering for a different kind of service, IYKWIM! :)

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't really see any "after" video of the roof. I couldn't tell what those lines were in both the front and rear of the roof, but that's one thing that bothers me; when someone shows a really close shot of a flaw, but then the afters of that same spot are either missing or from five feet away. I don't doubt he corrected those spots, but with how much he conentrated on them in the "before" video, you'd think he'd showcase them in the after.

Looked like a line left by the white wrap they put on new cars nothing that S+W wouldn't take off with a wipe I doubt he had to work real hard in that area

Paul definitely knows how to market himself, which is what really separates him from the others. ;)

I agree 100%, it all comes down to marketing.

^ Keeping it real, great post Pockets!

I was thinking the same thing.

FWIW, I have a lot respect for Paul Dalton and admire what he's done for himself. I can name a few US detailers who have taken a page from Paul's book and have excelled greatly in this industry over the last few years.

At the same time I also agree that there are many other detailers around that can perform to his level of detailing. This is not a knock on Paul in anyway, just the facts. :props:

:iagree: The mindset of a wealthy individual is different from us lower class folks. No offense.

Paul Daulton is the greatest icon of his sport. He is like the Wilt Chamberlain of Detailing! In all seriousness, he has set the benchmark we can all learn from.

If he charged a "normal rate" for his services he wouldnt be so famous...he fame is related to his price.

I did not notice the marks on the car, will have to watch again. I did think a lot of the marks in the roof were from the vinyl applied prior to shipping.

Respect to Paul he has a market but most of the detailers in the UK can put out similar work for a 10th of the price.

Where I live in Manchester the average full detail price is about £600.

I've been watching him on the web for quite a while. I like the passion he puts into car detailing and enjoy watching his jobs. He made me curious to try out new stuff such as Swissvax (Cleaner Fluid, Concorso), Zymol (HD Cleanse, Destiny) and haven't been disapointed so far. Pinnacle is still my favorite in terms of value.

Even if I would have all the money in the world I would not ask for his services because I enjoy detailing almost much as he does and I would take care of my own cars :buffing:

He does a great job, no doubt.

I have seen the video where he claims his clients can call him at anytime to remove bird droppings, etc. I guess for the price he'd better, lol.

Does he have to import a lot of products? relative (a little bit) to the premium prices?

Sometimes (not discounting his skills at all) it's not what you know, but who you know. You detail any very high end exotic and get a great response...suddenly you've got an exotic clientele with loads of cash.

I just read through this whole thread. Kinda makes me laugh...cause so many people are knocking this guy. Personally...I have no clue who he is. Does he do great detailing? I have no idea. Judging by the video...he does good work. Better than us here at AG? I Don't think that was EVER the topic. Is one detailer really better than the other if they both perform their job correctly?

All I know is...I would love a thread to go on for 4 pages about me...Kris Cook at Northeast Detailing! But, not gonna happen. This is why he gets the money he gets. He's obviously known. Why do you pay for Nike, when there's other brands that probably fit just as well. Because, they're Nikes! You ain't gonna walk around in some generic brand when you got plenty of money for Nikes!

People with tons of money...it's the same thing. If the rich guys friends pays 2 grand to get his Lambo detailed, then the rich guy himself isn't gonna go to the cheapo detailer who does it for $500. He's gonna go to that same detailer and pay $2 grand so his buddy doesn't one up him. Rich people have egos...those egos work against them, and in others favor sometimes. I think our man Paul has found that out.

Would I like to sit down with him and have a chat? You bet your detailing ass I would, ha.

I guess my 1st post was knocking on him but in another thread discussing Paul I did defend him about his ability to market himself this way and being in the "in" crowd is why he's better than most that you see. But after you hang around auto detailing websites for a bit and you come to the point and says "he's human." If you get my drift.

He does a great job, no doubt.

A few things about him does stand out and does make you laugh a bit. He was talking about this 'amazing' citrus degreaser that he has to import and it cost him around 55 pounds to import, looked like Chemical Guys Citrus Wash btw. He seems to import a bit from the USA also but than again so does a great bit of UK detailers using stuff from the USA. IE washes, polishes, compounds, etc

He also tries to keep the water that touches the paint at a 35 deg Cecilius.

Another thing that makes him and EVERY other high end UK detailer is the little jeweler like glass they use to inspect the paint after they're done polishing it, don't know what the hell it is but you always notice them doing it...

But yeah he's just another human working for a living.
