I had a Toyota Tacoma yesterday that belonged to a friend of mine that he wanted sealed up with a few spots that had some scratches. He said it may be from his wife washing the truck with a brush that had some rocks or sand in it. Here's some before pictures.

Since these were the only spots that had sratches I tried with Meg's D300 with the 3 inch MF cutting pads on my PC with a 2 7/8" Mirka backing plate. I got some correction but not nearly enough so I went with 105 and the MF pads and still not good enough. Sorry no pics, then I went to the 400 and with just a few passes it removed all the scratches easily with little to no DA haze. I was going to finish with menz 106 but decided to try Meg's d302 with the DA MF finishing pads and it looked awesome.

I then finished the rest of the truck up with klasse AIO and S/G.

Yes I know the tires aren't dressed up but he was going to change it out so I just hit it with a water based dressing and sent it on the way. Also he had a lot of wax build up in the trim that I removed also. I know one picture there is some wax in the door handle. I know some folks don't like finishing with MF pads but in this case it came out very good. Overall I was impressed with 400 and will not be using 105 anytime soon. Can't wait for the next chance I get to use it.

Nice! I'm a Meg's guy but this sure makes me want to pick up a bottle and give Menz a test run.

I've had similar experiences. I reach for fg400 all the time now because I know it will work and finishes out extremely well. I've tried going back to my other options in my cart since they're less expensive, but it just doesn't give me the same results.

I been also happy with D302 after clay to remove any marring that may occur with the da MF finishing pads. I used 106fa or duragloss preclean #2 before but I seem to be a lot faster with the d302. Just wish they made it in 32oz bottles.

Nice job, but I don't understand how 105 did nothing since it is made to remove deeper problems than say a 205 or the 400??

Yes but whatever 400 removes 105 should hands down

I think that was the point of the thread, that the OP found the FG400 to work better/faster than M105.

I'm not sure why you think M105 should be more aggressive than FG400; I can't find the chart here but on the Autopia chart they are both listed as the same--10.

This is exactly why you need a few different compounds in your arsenal. No one single compound will work the best with every paint type. M105 is great and will work on a ton of stuff...but not everything. Good for you for keeping an open mind.

Oh, and very nice save!!

Absolutely.

Mike@dedicatedperfection got me into the Menzerna line - to which I eternally grateful!

Between the Meguiar's, Menzerna, and Rupes polishes, I have no need for anything else at the moment.

I also find that the Menzerna products fit nicely into the Rupes system. FG400, and SF4000 specifically. Heck, same goes for M100, and M205.

Never used either but could 1 be diminishing and the other non-diminishing?
