Incredibly Cheap Finds

I have the Grit Guard and knock-off versions.

The main differences between the two are the as mentioned holding screws and the wheels. I also find the Grit Guard version being deeper and made of thicker plastic. I've found the larger wheels smoother running, especially over Swisstrax.

As for the holding screws, I've never used them as I have seen them crack buckets. Also, once they are full of water, they really don't need to be torqued down. The Grit Guard bucket dollies are actually sold and used across many industries, not just detailing. You can image in a janitorial situation, having the bucket steadied with the screws would be a consideration when used with a mop. Some will drill holes in the dolly to help water drain away. They don't come with drain holes because drainage in a janitorial role would be counter productive.

In any case, both versions work exactly the same. The money saved on the knock-off could be put into larger casters, narrowing the gap functionality gap to the Grit Guard.

Those larger wheels aren’t standard on US dolly’s. Does it look like those wheels on you GG dolly wheels would work on the other one? You can order those wheels as upgrade.

It’s what Matt uses in his bucket set up he sells. GG even offers a wheel set up above that one.

Yeah, I ordered the GG's with the upgraded wheels.

I found a great price on this 5 gallon bucket on Amazon. $7.99 + Free Shipping.
Petco 5 gallon bucket, feels sturdy, nice color, comes with standard blue lid, fits grit guard, fits gamma seal lid.

Pretty good for $8 bucks.

Mister Snoop, you have Ollie's in PA? I don't think we have any here in NJ. Have you used that Meg's trim restorer before?

yeah, most are in PA but it looks like 4 in NJ in the Philly area. Haven't used it but for the price, I'll give it a shot.

Let us know how it works.
I bought a bottle when it got released, I like it. Are there better products out there? Sure, probably. But I like it. It smells nice, easy to work with, and leaves a nice finish. I have mostly been using it on the black plastic fender liners in the wheelwells, so it takes a real beating, no sun, bit road rash beating. I find it holds up really good. I throw a few coats on with drying time between coats, and I let each coat sit for about 1/2 an hour or more before wiping off any residue. Everytime I wash the vehicle I wash the wheelwells and plastic as well to keep it clean. I find it cleans up nicely and when I throw another coat on, even weeks or months later, the product takes the addition coats really well. Like the plastic isn't hungry and absorbing it like crazy. It takes it like there is still product already on the plastic? If that makes sense. It leaves a nice dark finish to the black plastic too, extra coats start to give a slight sheen, but isn't greasy to the touch.
With the prices I will be grabbing a few more bottles before it's gone, I think Megs is dropping it.

Let me save you some time - it's not worth it. Looks good when first applied (although it's a bit greasy and hard to get an even layer) but it doesn't last AT ALL. I threw out the bottle I bought after trying it last summer.

Well, not on sale at Amazon, the price is $14.42.
Prices on Amazon don't always reflect being discontinued. Meguiar's Hybrid Paint Coating Kit is a good example. That's now up to $46. They may be matching prices against sellers that mark it up on eBay, etc. because you can't get it anymore. They're also adding in shipping costs.

Oh I see, I didn't realize it was largely already gone from the stores, AutoZone and Advanced don't have it, nor WalMart.

Megs Hybrid Paint Coat? Check out Ollie's. They have it for under $20. The fellas on here mentioned it about 2 years ago. Thanks again fellas!!!
