This client came to me via word of mouth. She needed an interior detail; something her husband wouldn't even consider attempting. With two young daughters, I knew I was in for a treat.

My car is an almost twin to this, so I knew every little nook and cranny. Even being familiar with the car, it still took me six hours to complete.

Products Used
Griot's Garage Interior Cleaner
Griot's Garage Leather Care
Wolfgang Rubber & Vinyl Protectant
Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner Plus
Stoner's Invisible Glass

Tools Used
Craftsman wet/dry vac
Craftsman air compressor
Small leather brush
Small two-sided detailing brush
Stiff brush
Microfiber towels
Microfiber applicators
Blue painter's tape

I titled this thread the way I did because it looked like there were several explosions inside of this car. Explosions of dirt, cereal, sticky candy, soda, makeup, pet hair, and a lot of unknown grime. Beware, some of this content is not for the faint of heart. I'll try my best to ease you into the nightmare that was my Sunday.

So now that you know what I'm dealing with, I'll move onto the leather cleaning process. Here is the front passenger seat, dirty and taped down the middle.

I used the Griot's Interior Cleaner with the small leather brush. This combination worked awesome! Griot's Interior Cleaner was phenomenal on everything I used it on! I then nourished the leather with Griot's Leather Care Spray. Here is this same seat with the tape removed. Notice the leather looks rich and not greasy. Believe me, the leather was not left sticky like you're left with some conditioners.

And now onto the finished pictures.

All in all, it came out great and she was thrilled. It was my first paid detail of any sort and I even got a tip out of it. I'd like to hear what you guys think!

Feed back please

I honestly expected worse, haha. That's so sad...I've seen way too many bad interiors.

This one was no joke though. You got lucky with the black interior. Nice job!

That interior looks just like my brothers Lexus 400h after about a week of his kids getting taken to school and back!

Its sad....I'm never having kids!

SCARY! Did you have to take it apart to get it that clean? Looks awesome afterwords.

I had a camry last week that was very similar, Dog stuff, Kid stuff, a molded over spilled sunkist under a mat.. this had a gray interim and the Folex had It's work cut out for itself. Thankfully I didn't find a tampon in this one. Ha

Nice job Mark...I'm glad she tipped, I'm sure she knows you went above
and beyond!!!:props:

That is unreal. Excellent job! How long did this interior detail take you?

It took me 6 hours. The last time I was in a car for that long I was driving up to Mackinac Island.

You did an awesome job and then some.

Thanks!

Massive change!

And massive amounts of change between the seats. I'm sure the Craftsman ate some of it that day.

Very lucky with the black interior. I would have needed a shampooer or extractor if it was a lighter color.

I have a 7 month old. I see no reason why kids need to eat or drink in the car. Aside from road trips, the longest they're in the car is 20 minutes.

Amazing Job!

I appreciate it!

At first glance I thought I was going to have to pull the seats. Then I realized how long the job was going to take already, and how little I was charging, and decided I could get 98% of everything without pulling the seats.

After cleaning chewed up candy off the floor mats and ground in cereal from the seats, a tampon probably would have been less offensive. lol

She definitely did. I did twice the work for about a third of what the dealership detailer wants.

WOW! that was bad. great turnaround.

Thank you!

Been lurking for quite a while, usually post on Autopia forums but I have to comment on this post. I had 4 kids, all grown now. I have never had an interior that dirty!!!! I guess people let kids get away with a lot nowadays. Wonder what their house looks like??

Don't know if this is a proper question, but how much did you charge? And now that you have had that experience how much would you charge for the next explosion?

OH MY - how disgusting that interior was...it looked like it was stuck under a bridge when all the pigeons pooped in it!

WOW - GREAT JOB

You're right, parents do seem to have more of a carefree attitude with their kids now. Fortunately for my wife and I, we heeded the advice given to us and our seven month old will revolve his life around ours, not the other way around.

Nice job :props:

Thanks, Flash!

I charged too little. Next time I'll charge "too little" times 2 or 3.

But seriously, I charged her $50. I knew going into it that I wasn't really profiting, but it was a good experience and something I'll use in my portfolio for future business.

Thanks, Cane! It was pretty shocking to say the least. I'm actually surprised it came out as well as it did. I didn't think a lot of that stuff would come off the leather without staining it.

That car was ready for some gasoline and a lighter!

But you did a great job on it.

great work!

i cant stand how people dont take care of their stuff and then blame it on having kids. digusting!

once again though, GREAT work!

Every time I see post like this it makes me wonder how a human can live a dirty life like a (blanking) cockroach.

Great job Mark on the turn around.
