Early this morning Dwayne and I got together to do a demonstration of CarPro Iron X in action on his Civic. Dwayne washed, clayed, polished, and sealed his car just last weekend and wanted to show why it is so important to use Iron X to remove iron contaminants that you can't see or feel even after claying and polishing.

Check out the reflection in the paint. Feels smooth and looks glossy. The paint definately doesn't appear contaminated.

Look how well it beads after a fresh coat of Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax applied one week ago.

So we washed the car with Dawn, dried and then clayed the surface before using Iron X. Iron X turns reddish purple and it interacts with iron. If no iron is present, it will not change color.

The Iron X takes effect immediately, revealing that even after detailing last week, washing with Dawn and claying today, iron contaminants were present in the paint.

After dwelling on the paint for 2-3 minutes the results are even more dramatic. It's hard to believe the paint was still this contaminated after claying and polishing the vehicle.

Iron X gets in and cleans hard or impossible to reach areas like under trim and spoilers too!

We also tested the Iron X on the wheels.

Once the Iron X has decontaminated the car, the next step is washing with a clean sponge. Be sure to wet the sponge or dunk it in a wash bucket prior to using.

Now for a thorough rinse...

Remember how well the paint was beading prior to using Iron X? Now the paint is completely stripped of any ferrous iron particles and is ready for the next steps, IPA wipe down and then Cquartz!

This is one product that really peaks my curiosity

Thanks for the article Nick/Dwayne

So you just dawn washed it and used IronX before CQ? No IPA etc?

btw good demo!

The car is in the garage, we haven't actually applied the Cquartz yet. But for best results, we will use IPA prior to applying the Cquartz.

What about the instructions that say not get any on the brake calipers? How do you spray your wheels down with it and not get any on the calipers?

Tape off the wheel weights? Really?

This product has really peaked my curiousity too. It sorta reminds me of when I was a kid in grade school and those nurses came to school to teach use how to brush our teeth and use those read tablets to show us the areas we missed. I'm subscribing to this thread to see the improvement:xyxthumbs:

So do you spray down the entire car with Iron-X, or panel by panel? Also, do you use soap/detergent to take the Iron-X off or just water with a clean sponge? This stuff really has my curiosity piqued!

Cool demo. Glad to see I'm not the only idiot that uses Dawn to remove wax!:xyxthumbs:
Question, after using the Iron X, what did you wash it off with?

wont damage the brakes, its small precaution step, try avoid spraying on the calipers, then just rinse it well with water.

you can spray the whole car , it can dry on surface as well, just not to dry under the sun! to remove it only use good water rinsing , and power wash.

So will iron.x strip any LSP on the car?
organic base waxes it will affect by 50% and more, synthetic sealant it will almost not affect.

Dawn is very good for removing wax , ironx inside have very small amount of soap, just to make it cling better to surface , to wash it off just rinse really well.

Thanks Avi,
I will have to give the IronX a try.

What about exterior plastic trim? If you accidentally spray it on plastic or if it runs onto the plastic will it stain or is this stuff safe on plastic?

we already know that claying doesn't remove everything. If iron is embedded in the clear, then clay just shaves off the exposed iron.

Still, kinda cool to see though
