Iron X in Action!

What about exterior plastic trim? If you accidentally spray it on plastic or if it runs onto the plastic will it stain or is this stuff safe on plastic?
no problem at all with plastics or rubbers!! just good rinsing after .

Wouldn't you want to use IronX before claying?
yes correct.

we already know that claying doesn't remove everything. If iron is embedded in the clear, then clay just shaves off the exposed iron.

Still, kinda cool to see though
Exactly!!
i think the test was only to show you all how it looks like , even after clay job.

Very cool review, I can't wait to try this out.

I have a slightly different view of IronX. I have been claying my white Audi a few panels at a time for the last few weeks due to weather and time constraints followed by a quick layer of OCW.

Today foamed with dawn followed by dawn 2bm wash. I sprayed entire car with IronX and let it dwell 5-10 minutes. I saw very few traces (almost none) of iron in the middle of any of the panels. There were purple indications around trim crevices, wheels, etc. My car is a daily driver but spends most of the time in the garage.

So I guess I was somewhat disappointed in the overall effect. I guess getting iron from around the trim is useful for long term maintenance but it didn't, in my case, have any affect on the visual appearance of the paint. Maybe claying first removed most of the iron

Summing up, I am not sure I would buy it again.

edit: BTW I use Ultima Elastrofoam for claying

I think ironx is a bit overrated.

Foam, wash, clay, ironx, heavy polish, light polish, glaze, sleant, and wax.

give me a break.

Just shot this video over the weekend showing IronX in action -- I'll be using it for a full review soon, but in the meantime check it out (you can view it in full 1080p on YouTube):

Most definitely made claying go much quicker, and the chunk of clay I used didn't get anywhere near as dirty as it usually would.

i think that your car just dont catch much irons in your area, and you well store it and maintain it.. ironx will save few steps from your detailing procedure you done.
best is to use it before any soaps or clay.. after this you wont need intensive clay bar, less marring and clay will last longer as well,. not to mention the time saving and elbow grease .
you can always use the ironx on your wheels as well, very strong brake dust and iron dots removing , with less effort

I just used sonax and iron-x on some BMW wheels with insane brake dust specks yesterday. I spent about an hour each on the front two wheels and it barely made a dent but I'm sure about 10 applications it would be gone. On another set of BMW wheels I had to use about 15 applications of megs wheel brightener to get the specks all off. Iron x looked cool and it looked like it was dissolving the brake dust specks but after agitating it and washing it off the specks still remained. I was expecting a bit more I guess.

I did Dawn first since I thought in order to get to the iron, IronX would have to penetrate not only the OCW but the 845IW and sealant that I used at the beginning of winter.

I wonder when the last time car was clayed. Since on my car which was clayed a a week ago (because I didn't have IronX yet) had almost no iron in the middle of the panels.

That was a customer's vehicle which to the best of my knowledge had never been properly detailed prior to this. It was a 2008 Trailblazer.

If there were iron spots, ironx dissolved them, im 100% sure, sometime need agitating , yes.
maybe these specks you are talking about were not irons , could they be tar spots?
ironx wont dissolve tar dots!.

They were definitely iron spots. I already had used half a can of stoners tarminator on each rim to get rid of the tar spots and after more applications of iron-x the whole inside of the wheels would turn purple so they were definitely iron specks. I wasn't hoping for a miracle because I knew I've dealt with BMW rims before with insane brake dust but I was hoping it would help a little. I'm sure after many applications it would eventually dissolve but I would have spent $30 worth of ironx on each wheel and it just wouldn't be worth it for the price.

Important questions here:

1. For a vehicle with a 3m clear bra installed, is it OK to use on it?
2. When doing the wheels, how does one keep the calipers safe?

No problem to use ironx or ironx soap gel on clear bra! it wont affect the film.
normally you wont have problems with calipers also, only if they are aftermarket painted with acrylic paint.
if still you want to be careful, just use it more delicatly near the calipers , or use detailing brush near them

also, some asked me about Anodized wheels.. no problem to use ironX on these as well. !!

question. Since AG still has the 15% off everything sale going on I was thinking about purchasing the whole CarPro line but something is bothering me about Iron X. I can see the benefit to using it on a daily driver however

"Note: Iron X should not be used on chrome, bare metal parts, brake calipers, wheel balancing weights, or SMART paint repairs. Mask off these areas. Avoid letting Iron X dry on any surface."

My cars roof area right above the door has a full chrome lining instead of rubber. How bad would it be if Iron X was accidentally sprayed in that area?

No problem now to use it on any chromes panels !
just dont let it dry under sunshine
same thing no problem with clear bra or anodized wheels.
AG should update there info about ironx on there site.

I think my next batch of stuff I really shouldn't have purchased will be the whole CarPro line.

Thanks Avi for the updated info!

It's definitely a great product...but it's WAY too expensive for the weekend detailer or even a regular professional detailer. I'd only even consider buying this product when doing very expensive cars that you can charge alot for. Otherwise with the cost of these expensive products and shipping, it just isn't justified.

I used this stuff on my white KIA Forte.... WOW! However, I am using it with a chemical resistant sprayer, but when the product sits for any period of time, It seems to be reacting with the spring int the sprayer. It shoots out purple liquid, purple liquid migrates down the sprayer tube and in to the bottle. Shortly after, the sprayer fails.
