IronX Question

When reading the directions it says to not get it on calipers and wheel weights but when watching the videos I see guys just spraying it on w/o any masking off of anything. So here it is, is it ok to just spray it on a dry wheel, let it do its thing and then rinse or agitate before hand and then rinse?
There are OEM manufacturers that have issued TSBs that advise to NEVER ALLOW wheel, tire, or brake cleaners to come into contact with certain components of their vehicles' braking system.

Only car-wash shampoos and water should be used to clean those designated vehicles' wheels and tires. Any other products that are applied to these braking system components will cause damage...and those damages are not covered under the OEMs' warranties.

Just a heads-up.

I will probably end of mixing some ECO TOUCH wheel cleaner and IronX at a 1:1 ratio, I'll end up doing a report when the time comes.

Thanks for the update on Optimums new, upcoming product;)

I ordered a bottle of lemon scented IronX, will be here by the 9th. I'm really looking forward to trying it out:thumbup:

Just like to experiment Bob, that's all and someone said it would be like GG HD wheel cleaner, somewhere ahead of regular wheel cleaner but not full on like straight IronX would be.

I do agree about your brake parts comment a ways back, like carbon ceramic rotors for instance. If I come across a detail with a car with those parts I will use regular wheel cleaner and some "elbow grease", hard work never hurt anyone:D

I believe he wants to make his own version of Sonax FE. Iron X only attacks iron and doesn't contain cleaners found in normal wheel cleaners that attack the grime on your wheels that isn't iron based.

Klasse, don't you already use DUB Wheel cleaner? Which disolves iron particles right? So why use IronX?
Also, isn't Eco Touch a rinseless product? IronX is not, so I would think it'd be better to use IronX and then clean it up with the Eco Touch.

Avi has previously stated:

"Ironx itself has small amount of degreaser, it will clean very well the wheel, use small amount and agitate, you will get good results".

I stand corrected, but I find that dedicated wheel cleaners do better at that type of stuff.

:iagree: ...Although:

Some dedicated wheel-cleaners have similar
"hair-salon perm ingredients" as IronX.

ECO TOUCH wheel cleaner is used like any other normal wheel cleaner, their waterless carwash on the other hand doesn't need to be rinsed off.

I do use Meg's DUB wheel cleaner and it does a great job, but like most of us I wanna try IronX to see what its like, that's all. The DUB wheel cleaner is 22 oz and costs $8.99 compared to the $23.00 shipped for the lemon scented IronX. I'm going to try it out on my wife's car and see how it works and then save it for a real tough job when it arises.

My concern is the "compatibility" between these two products.

I think you'll be most impressed by what it does for paint decontamination. Seriously do a 50/50 on a neglected DD with IronX on one side and nothing on the other, the IronX side will look visibly cleaner and smoother.

Thanks SameGuy, I'm looking forward to trying it on neglected DD's for sure but there will be an added cost for this service, that stuff isn't cheap!

I stay ontop of my own car so I don't think I'll see any benefit from doing it on my own car come spring but there will others though, this IronX combined with my Opti-Clay towel (heavy grade) will help me just about situation I come across;)

:what:

I read it smells like a woman (or the guy from "Greatest American Hero") getting a perm in an outhouse!

Great! Now I have that song stuck in my head.

"Believe it or not, it's just meeee!!!!"

That's exactly the way I go about it. I only use it on my cars once a year, or before a full correction. I offer it as an upgrade if I'm not doing a full correction but it does such a great job that if I'm charging for a full package the added cost is easy to swallow.

My order comes in Dec 9th;)

Btw if I wanted to try this out, outside, its there a temp I need to worry about? If its above freezing I'd like to try it outside if possible.

I used it last week at around 35° and it worked as designed.

Definitely use it outside or smell it for quite sometime. I know you take care of your cars but you may be suprised at the results using it on your paint.
