Is it just me, or does anyone else turn into anal mclooney somethimes with detailing. I spent the last three days stripping the old wax off my car, then doing a light hand poloishing on it with some 106, then over the three day period I applied 3 coats of sealant, letting each coat cure overnight, 1 coat of klasee sg, 2 coats of fk big white, which surprisingly gave my plain white car a nice wet and shiny look. So my cars all nice and clean, even with the smashed fender still on from my recent accident, idk maybe i want to surprise the bodyshop when it goes in. Anyways, back to the crazy, so I found myself last night at home cleaning my car some more, havent driven it in the past few days cause it was raining, but its Friday night, friends are calling me to go party, but I find myself hitting the silence button on my phone, putting on some warm clothes, and heading outside in 40 degree weather to clean my already spotless car. Most everybody thinks im a nut, lol, but to me its therapy and lately ive been needing a lot so got to work. Here are some pics of what I did.

I have always noticed that the areas, for instance behind my door handles were dirty and stained and to me looked bad, so I took them off and cleaned up the mess, sound crazy, lol.

I took some pics of the process just to show, in general, how to go about doing this if anyone else ever wondered or has a mazda 6, pretty much all door handle assemblies are the same idea.

First, as expected, take off the door panel, locate the handle assembly, for me had to remove glued on peice of foam to get ot the assembly.

Next, disconnect any linkages connect to the assembly, usually just clipped in.

Then, locate any bolts or nuts on the assembly, my driver door had two, one accessed through the opening the other, a rubber gromut had to be rmoved to access it, this was the same for the passanger door and rear doors, which only had one.

Finally, just take your time and gently remove the handdle assembly. Be sure to do something to prevent the door from closing completely, becuase even with the hanndle off it can still latch itself shut, i just simply did this.

This is the mess I found behind the hanldes.

Using a completely random setup of cleaning products, mainley qtips and tarminator, some claying, and klasse AIO, and finally some fk 1000 this is what i came out with.

Also removed the side mirrors to get behind them, with the door panel off its was simple, just 3 8mm bolts to remove.

Finished

Did the same for the gas door and inside.

Also hand ploished and seal all the door jams, Klasse AIO and FK 1000.

Dont, get me wrong, its not like any of this was filthy, always try to clean out all the door jams, cracks and crevices everytime I wash, just never got this nuts with it, but made such a big difference.

Dressed all the weather stripping in the doors with Megs. Edurance

Idk, some may call it crazy, but I still Love detailing, I blame Autogeek for making me crazy, lol, anyways, sure ill have more to post later.

Goodness there son. You need to get out more. LOL. Heck of a job and nice write-up. And yes you have got it BAD ! ! !

A little OCD but we're like that in a way, just look at some of the collections of products, mine included. Nice amp setup, what speakers and subs you runnin?

I've been known to remove entire roof racks, front grills, lic plates and other parts to make cleaning and polishing easier. Are you suggesting doing so is outside the norm? :D

Sounds normal to me.... I don't have that much time but today it was 40 odd degrees plus wind chill. I had to be out there to wash my car...

First, I'd like to say what a nice job you did with door handles and mirrors. Pretty cool to see how it's done.

Second, I'd like to thank you. I can show my wife this thread to prove that I don't have a full case of OCD. Maybe the beginning stages but not full out OCD. :dblthumb2:

Ok, time to go back to the garage...

HAHA I missed the cat. He better run before he gets his eyeballs polished. :D

Boston Aucoustic SL 5x7 all around, basically a component setup on a a 5x7 plate, and as for subs, used to be a 12" jl w7 but it was tearing my car apart and left no room in the trunk, sounded awesome, hit a 134 db on the dash, but now i just got a jl w3 8" in a jl box truck box, mainley as a space saver, but still hits for an 8.

Sounds like a sweet setup, I just sold my W6 H.O. cause it doesn't fit my pick-up. That thing was blowing up my Bravada, my setup was never that clean though, since I didn't get the detailing bug till my new truck.

There must be a 12 step program for this
Here you go.

Step 1. We admitted we were powerless over waxing and that our wives had become unmanageable.
Step 2. Came to believe that a better wax could restore us to sanity.
Step 3. Made a decision to turn our wheels and our tires over to a tire shine as we understood it.
Step 4. Made a searching and fearless swirl inventory of our rides.
Step 5. Admitted to A.G.O., to ourselves and to another detailer the exact nature of our paint condition.
Step 6. Were entirely ready to have M-105 remove these defects and swirls.
Step 7. Humbly asked our banks to increase our credit limits.
Step 8. Made a list of all the products we would need and became willing to pay for them all.
Step 9. Made a direct leveling of our swirls except when to do so would remove too much clear or strike through.
Step 10. Continued to use 2 buckets and when the water got dirty promptly replaced it.
Step 11. Sought through detailing forums to improve our process as we understood it, asking only for the knowledge of products and the technique to use them.
Step 12. Having achieved a perfect paint finish as a result of these steps, we tried to carry these techniques to other detailers and to practice these processes with all of our vehicles.
