I prefer traditional wash over rinse-less so DQ's will be in my arsenal for years to come.
So are you saying that you run down to the DQ for some ice cream after every wash

Yes Max needs a concentrate to compete IMO. DPWW doesnt add gloss like the new ones do. IME the gloss adds a pop I cant get with DP. I have 2 qts of DP that havent been used since OOC & Ultima came out. IMO you will love the Ultima and may find yourself in the same place Im in now. I have a lot of QD;s, FK 146 & 425, OID, Crystal Mist, Red Mist, DG 521,PB QS. I never thought they would be matched by a waterless. Its just DP Waterless Auto Wash
So what is it that you think Max needs to develop? Are you talking about a concentrate of the waterless wash? I'm finishing up my last bottle of DP and I have the new Ultima in my cart now.
As far as QD's go, I will continue to use them as long as ONR and DP rinseless is around to mix up. Well that and I have several bottles of different QD's![]()
Makes plenty of sense how WW's that add gloss can take the place of QD's, depending on how you use it. However, I will ONLY use the traditional wash method, and only QD after washing. So, it's still QD for me. No need for a WW wash.Yes Max needs a concentrate to compete IMO. DPWW doesnt add gloss like the new ones do. IME the gloss adds a pop I cant get with DP. Kurt, the cost of the new waterless are far less than any QD except OID which is comparable to OOC when you buy a gallon ( i.e., $10 OOC to $12.50 OID). Ultima is $3.50 a gallon. Im much more comfortable using a WW on dust than a QD. Corey has the right idea for bug removal, etc.Depends on how you use the detailer and WW.
If you wipe down your vehicle after driving everyday and want to remove the road film the WW makes more sense. However, I still prefer a bucket and hose wash first and an ONR wash second. If I have a light dust that I need to remove from an overnight stay in the garage, I will still use the QD at this point. I guess that you could use the WW instead of the QD for the overnight dusting if the cost is the same.
If you use the QD as a drying aid like me, then I will still use OID which gives my paint a wonderful slick feeling. I'm still of the opinion that a spray wax (or any wax) should be applied to clean, dry paint so the concentration of polymers and wax does not change and allows the best bonding to the paint. I plan to try DG AW this week as a drying aid so my opinion is subject to change.
It becomes more difficult when thinking about using a QD, RW or WW before applying a fresh coat of wax or sealant. I'm still of the opinion that a hose and bucket car wash (without waxes) is the best prep for a second coat of wax or sealant. I am not even sure if ONR or a WW should be used before adding another layer of LSP unless they are known to be compatible.
For instance, I might use ONR, OOC, OS and OCW together without an issue. I might use Optima WW with their WOWA sealant. I was fine using One Grand's car wash and adding another layer of OGBW. I am less sure about using ONR, OCC, DP's RW or Optima's WW which leave behind gloss enhancing polymers and are not rinsed off before applying a sealant or some waxes.
Do they affect bonding performance and durability? I don't know. This would be a really interesting topic for debate and experimentation.
You're absolutely right about that, Jim. However, if my car is dusty, I wash it the traditional way. I will only use a QD right after I wash the car. So again, it depends how you use it. Will the new WW's slow down the sale of QD's? Probably............but, they're not dead.Im much more comfortable using a WW on dust than a QD.

Kurt, you make great points but IMO OOC adds as much pop as OID. The Ultima is WAY better than their QD which IMO is their only disappointing product. PM me with your address buddy! If the WW doesn't have the characteristics of the QD that I want to use, then the QD will still be used.
I agree that a WW should be better on dust and road film than a QD. I use my QD as a drying aid and agent to add slickness, so it has a utility that the WW may not.
I would guess that a RW may be safer than a WW if the dirt is removed from the washing towel as it is dipped into the RW bucket. If the MF is changed often with the WW, then the WW has some great upsides.
I'm willing to try new things and lord knows that my product use change has been a like a tsunami over the past year. I'm just not sure that I want to be a first adopter, when I have specific expectations for certain products.
