Is there any hope for this paint??

Are you familiar with the Pinnacle XMT Line?? Stage 1-4, 1 being less aggressive with less abrasives and 4 being extremely aggressive with more abrasives. Followed by an XMT Glaze and Final for a Sealant...I love the way the XMT (XTREME MACHINE TECHNOLOGY) works.....but I believe with some tender love and care the paint should come out real nice.

Awesome results. :xyxthumbs: You shouldnt have any problems with it returning as you actually removed the top oxidized layer of paint this time vs applying oils.

I actually did try following the instructions in that article, but I needed something to cut the paint a little (megs no. 7 doesn't have any cutting capabilities). It's funny because I had tried turtle wax poloshing compound that my father had a while ago and it just made it worse. Turns out Meguiars makes a much superior product. Never again will I ever use turtle wax. I used Pinnacle SSII as my LSP. Thank you for your suggestion, though.

Now just make sure you apply a good LSP Im the MAN
 
Good for you man. Great job!!! You saved your hood, and you saved some paint by not using that 105. Nicely done!!:props:

Thank you for all your help! Two professional detailers/painters told me that it could not be restored...can't wait to show them the finished product. I'm so glad I could save the paint, since it is the original paint job from 1991! Originality means everything to me! Thank you all!

You'll find that many "professional detailers/painters" are the ones screwing up the paint in the first place that the members of this forum are paid to fix :props:

Haha...I really trusted that guy too. He did a few beautiful paint jobs for me for free because I send him a lot of business. He made my other 90' Mustang convertible look unbelievable. I guess he isn't as much of a detailer as he is a painter....
