on the traditional PC-style DA the thinner pads have less foam which means less twist in helping to rotate. i would at least have 4-5 pads (can never have enough and the more the better) for polishing/compounding. the thinner pads tend to get saturated quicker as well...

I use Mike's technique of the terry cloth towel to eat up the spent polish on the pads.

Thanks! Hmmm....may save up some cash to get 4 each when the time is right. It IS off season (for me)...:p
 
Definitely need more than 2 pads per step.

The terry cloth method is a good way to clean spent polish and paint.
 
Would anyone be interested in a torture test with these vs low pro buff n shine
1 pad per car on speed 6 via g21?
 
I am very pleased with the BOSS thin pads thus far. I would try these one day I suppose.

I have a dodge ram while my 150 is in the body shop it has some scratches and it only has 7,000 miles. So being bored I decided to play around with my Rupe mini and Wolfgang uber compound with a blue Rupes pad. To my surprise the blue Rupes with the uber finished down really well and removed said imperfections. So there was no need to use the Wolfgang finishing polish, I would if it were mine or a customers vehicle, I'm kinda on the fence with the Rupes pads mainly because of price but hey they work.

They are pricey, but I think they are quality and run smooth compared to the thinpros
 
I can not just be in one camp when it comes to pads & polishes. Seems like just to many different paint surfaces to deal with, some days the go to, does not cut it, so I must try something else.
I do agree matching pads made for matching brand polishers work very well.

There yellow polishing pad is unique, all the other polishing pads get quite soft.

Witch sometimes for a one step too soft is no good and too hard is no good as well.

That yellow pad is really really nice for a good one step.

One of the best pads available. On the Rupes, the yellow pad will be smoother. On an 8mm DA, the thin pro are superior.
 
Looking to get 12 pads with the sale going on right now.

Which do you reccomend I buy?

I think I am going to get 4 white, 4 Orange, and say 2 of the black and red.

I have already a bunch of the Meg's MF pads, so don't think I need to get any of the gray.

What's the difference between the black and red pads? It said black has no cut at all...so then what's it for then??
 
I use the black with a finishing polish to amp up gloss.

Yes, don't bother with the grey if you have Meg's MF cutting pads.

I'd get 4 orange, 4 white, 4 black. Black is good for using a finishing polish to remove marring from the previous step. You could use white for that as well depending if the paint is hard. Red is strictly for applying waxes and sealants. You could use black for this as well.
