Looking at the GG DA

I have the PC 7424 xp and it does the job for me.
I keep reading the GG DA is more powerful.
Would it be worth it to buy a GG being I have a PC?
Would it speed up my work?
 
On a full two step correction, I probably save about 20 to 30 minutes by using the GG.

In my opinion, unless you are full time or serious about this, it isn't worth to buy a GG and sell your PC. You're going to lose about 40 dollars if you do.
 
The new GG is a significant upgrade from the last generation. Ergonomically and power wise, it is much better than a PC. I would go for it, but I have a polisher fetish!
 
I just purchased the gg and a salutary love it I feel like it has more power then my rotary buffer! I'm afraid to turn it up to full speed it's got hat much power to it

I have both the PC 7424XP and the GG6v3, and the GG is a much better polisher. Worth the upgrade, IMO.
 
being able to have 2 machines with 2 different backing plates goin is worth it imo

What kind of rotary do you have..a 12v drill?
 
I'd keep my PCvif I were to buy a GG DA
That way I'd have two plus my rotary.

It's actually the harbor freight rotary witch is actually a pretty nice rotary, with the right backing plate and pads I set sanded and cut my entire car but then again I never turned it all the way up in fear of burning the paint

I think if I were going to upgrade I'd go to the Flex3401 VRG or a Rupes. Otherwise in a year you'll get the bug for something better than the GG.
 
I have the GG and like it, but once I perfect it and get more money I want to step up to a RUPES,IMHO.

I got the GG3 shipped for $118 total on Griots last sale. That is a big cost delta over a FLEX or a RUPES. It will serve you well after you get a FLEX or a RUPES. It is my favorite consumer grade DA!
 
I have a HF rotary, it's the electronic one, super nice for only paying 60 bucks but I only use it when it's really needed, I use a wool pad, talk about a cut. Lol

Know what you mean about I'd want to get the Flex later, that's how we think, we buy something, it works fine then you read about the better products and spend more money.
So one says ( Ihaveacamaro) he saves about 30-40 minutes using the GG over the PC, I have to ask myself if that's worth spending more money on the GG.

Only thing I find wrong with the PC is that it bogs down some with heavy pressure even on speed six when i'm using my 105, does the GG DA have the same issue as the PC?

No, the Griots does not big down. You can use it at low speeds (in the 3's) and it still won't bog down.
 
GG 6 will keep going with little lag, as swanic said. Swapping the pc to a smaller backing plate should help it perform better as well. Keep the GG for larger plates/pads.

I took advantage of that sale as well, it was one hell of a deal!

I found that, while the GG6 outperforms the PC 7424XP at all speeds, they way it performs at speeds 3-5 is really where it shines over the PC. It's hard to explain, but below speed 6, the PC just seems to have no power, but once you hit 6, it's like it's kicked into overdrive (both sound-wise and performance-wise). Of course this may just be because someone dropped mine once from about 5 feet up. Even replacing the speed selector switch didn't seem to make a difference, so I'm assuming it has always been like that but I never noticed until I got my Flex.

IMO, having multiple polishers with different size backing plates is going to do more to speed up your work than having a slightly more powerful DA will. I'd imagine this would be especially true for mobile detailers since you don't have to worry about whether you brought along the right backing plates and the tools to change them.

Of course, you have to decide whether the added expense is worth the time savings, and how long it would take to recover your investment.
 
Well now I know, if I set my speed to 3-4 it won't spin if I add just a little pressure.
You guys are saying GG won't stop spinning at speed 3-4?
It tells me that GG has more power than of the PC
That could have just helped me lake up my mind and buy a GG DA and use my PC for my four inch pads.
