Looking for a good APC

So I called Meguiar's Customer Care Line and our conversation basically finished at:

"APC+ is not advertised as a paint cleaner and Meguiar's does not recommend using it to strip wax or sealants. Use a dedicated paint cleaner, polish, or clay to remove wax. It is advertised as an all purpose that is safe for wheels, tires, wheel wells, interiors, etc. The recommended ratios are 4:1 for heavy cleaning, 10:1 for medium cleaning, and 20:1 for light cleaning."

Feel free to call Meguiar's or go to their forum if you feel you need more information.
 
Thanks guy's, I'm gonna try the Megs and it's on sale right now. I will keep the others in mind if the Megs doesn't work out.

I would definitely go with Meguiars APC and Meguiars Super Degreaser. Best bang for your buck with regard to cleaners.

I use DP cleanse all(it kinda smells like concentrated glass cleaner!) and it really works great!

I once had this car over where I had to remove serious bird poo. Damn thing was caked like hell!

Even DP wasn't able to remove it after soaking it for 1/2 an hr.

Finally, had to take out my can of simple green and poured it directly without dilution and within minutes the poo softened and I removed it with a pressure jet!

I wont recommend simple green, but it might come in handy for some seriously nasty/stubborn spots.

How can it be recommended for clear coated wheels, yet not recommended for clear coated paint? :confused:

Beats me but I will never use it on clear coated wheels again. It did a number (at 10:1) on the last wheel I tried it on.

That's interesting. I use Meguiars APC regularly on wheels, tires, wells, and paint for bug removal. Did you spray down the wheel first with water?

Yup I made sure it was good and wet and I didn't let it dwell at all.

What exactly happened to the clear coat or the metal/paint underneath? I've used on mine and it just cleaned them well, if there's going to be some future damage I see no signs of it.

I had factory aluminum wheels many years ago that had a kind of plastic coating/film on them. I know this because it started peeling off after a few years.
 
i've been through a few gallons each of both megs apc/apc+ and next on my list will be OPC...
 
Maybe there's more to it, but why not just dilute APC+ 32:1, or even higher if you feel its not safe on paint?

Like I said before, Meg's APC's are fine. Use something for car detailing and don't worry so much.

If your just using something for the outside, take a look at P21s Total Auto Wash. That's probably what I am going to start using next year on exteriors.
