Looking for a new DA: Should I go GG, Rupes?

if you do a lot of works, rupes can save you a lot of time, but if you're weekend, part time detailer, GG would be find choice.

I detailer 1,2 cars a month typically and use gg 3", PC, and rupes 21es.
and sometimes I think Rupes was too much $$ for my situation.

The fact that YOU responded says it all, as for trumping the first Rupes, I suggest you climb back into your trailer and go do your homework as you still need to be "schooled".

Since seeing as you all for imitation go stand infront of a mirror and imitate being a man.

See...I too can fling insults and stoop to your level.

To the admin and moderators am just making a point to someone who wouldn't understand any other way. My last response on this thread as the forum has become far more educated since the last time this type of thread surfaced.

Oh your such a nice guy still provoking your childish insults months later, yes you are so not childish "not" letting go.

But its OK zubair just "get out of your bubble"

Wise words of choice since you drive a bubble in theory that was quite a accurate quote.

That's very mature provoking fights and insults then blame it on others.

Like a 8 year old would do to his little brother.

If your going to insult someone , insult them like a man don't beat around the bush and do it in subliminal messages.

I don't know how you do it on south Africa, in the USA we speak our mind not in subliminal messages.

So the next time you have a problem with me you direct it towards me, message me , or don't speak at all.

I don't play those high school girl games.

Merry Christmas (or whatever it is you celabrate) I hope you get that optimum polisher you was so found of.

Yeah I'm just doing my car and my wife's car. So once, twice compounding and some wax/sealant applications

Maybe I should go GG6?

In that case, just stick to your HF DA. Maybe get the latest pads if you don't already have them. i.e. Megs thin foam discs etc.

Then my vote is GG6, which also comes with life time warranty,
since you're only doing yours and your wifes car.
and I find, my PC easier for machine wax than rupes 21.

maybe you can pick up 3" backing plate for HF DA and use it for tight spots.

just my .02 cents.

I already have a 3" backing plate. I'd just like a nicer DA. Something that seems a bit better than the HF unit. It almost seems under powered when polishing.

I have tons of flat pads new, so it'll be a waste of money to not use them. I mean they aren't bad to use ya know?

get the GG6, well worth your hard earned $'s :xyxthumbs:

You can upgrade to a duetto with 5in pads
May also get a kamikaze 3in backing plate to run either a 3 or 4 in pad

pay a little more and get a lot more out of it (referring to the --->). the GG6 has more torque/power, lifetime warranty, and customer service. just one less thing to worry about if something happens later down the line. plus, you support AG by buying one... :props:

So Im looking for a new polisher. Now I have a HF DA and it works okay. I bought it to make sure I wanted to get into machine polishing. Ive read that the heavier polishers can actually harm paint, any truth in that? It was cited because of the machine's weight. I have 5.5" LC flat pads now, so Id like to stick with that size. I really thought the Rupes is mainly better than most cheaper DA's because of the wider/larger throw that can be achieved right, and its quality too. The HF unit isn't that great, but works for what it is no doubt.

I've been using the HF DA for the past few years. It was my only DA and has never failed me. It's versatile, powerful, and inexpensive.

I just purchased the Griots G15 recently and am glad that I did. I would not say that it does a better job correcting paint than the HF DA but it is sooo much smoother and faster at getting the job done. Very nice machine. It was worth every penny I paid for it. It was an excellent upgrade....at least to me.

Best wishes in whatever you decide !!

I went from a 3401 to the G21 and I'm very happy with my decision. Among other things the lifetime warranty was very appealing to me, and it's extremely smooth. The Mark II Rupes will likely set the bar even higher but they are all very nice machines. If possible I'd recommend trying them all.

Asking for opinions on polishers around here these days is getting into Ford v Chevy or PC v Mac and it will ultimately come down to your personal preferences and what you want out of the machine.

We live in a golden age of products and tools ladies and gents. Try to remember that when you put down others for what they use. It doesn't make them any less of a professional or somehow wrong...

When have you ever heard of a weekend warrior that has had his GG or HF polisher fail and break due to normal wear & tear? I've had my HF DA for 2yrs. now, and I can't name too many, if any other tools I own that I have as much confidence in as I do this polisher.

I can't even see a possibility of this thing giving out for any reason... I purchased the 1yr. free replacement warranty the day I bought it, and it turned out to be a waste of money because this thing is built like a rock. Warranty my arse. Nobody on earth ever lives to actually use any warranty.

I've had warranties on HDTV's, expensive stereo equipment, the polisher, etc... Never reaped the rewards a single time.

Unless you're a professional who uses it 24/7/365, Polishers don't clunk out. So give the lifetime warranty a rest already. Lol.

Ive worked in customer service where i was responsible for warranty repairs and people absolutely use them. They have come in handy for me more times than i can count. So without debating the merits of lifetime warranties and the like, ill just say that Its a real selling point for some people and your personal experience with warranties does not cancel that out for everyone else.

Also, im a weekend warrior who has had a polisher break. So there you go. Griots had a new one on my doorstep in a week.

So the GG polisher breaks. I've yet to stumble upon a single user experience describing their HF DA breaking down from normal wear and tear.
You can search for an example and I suppose you might find 1 if you try. But we're not trying to do that.

And even if it does, what's $55 bucks?😃

With all do respect, you really need to let the whole Harbor Freight thing go. Go with the spirit of the thread and AG's forum.

Merry Christmas.

Ok I can agree to that. To be honest I don't even know how this conversation got on this topic. Last I remember this was about Rupes polishers.

In the spirit of Christmas, I will only ask that we are a little more forgiving of others ....
