Honesty, if your just polishing cars occasionally you will likely be fine with any PC style DA. I still have the original PC 7424, and with the right accessories it can tackle almost any defect.
But, the question is (as I see it), do you want something "nicer"?
It's the same old story- you can drive to work in an old pickup or a new Mercedes - either give the result - you get to work. However, the journey is different.
If you have $500 of cash burning a hole in your pocket - I'd get a Rupes, along with their pads and polishes. I'd prolly get the Mark II as well - as if your spending that much cash, you may as well get the latest and greatest.
You will still need the PC style DA for <5" pads.
