Whats up everyone. I'm working on designing my logo and ALMOST have it, but need a good (high quality) photo of a vette, Im thinking 55' or 56' with the red and white two tone, but open to other options. If anyone has any that would be ok to use for my logo send me a PM please :Picture:

I have a few great old Vette pics in my album here...Your welcome to copy them if you like...John

Wills, I would really advise against using a "photo" for your "logo." You'll be better served by a line drawing. If you then want to use a photo of a car you've detailed in your marketing materials, that's a different story.

Hey Wills...just my $.02...I don't think the red and white car looks good with that background. The idea of the line-drawn car may work the best with it OR the silhouette of a black vette may work even better.

The background is black to start with. I personally don't think that would go good, but the idea of the lime-drawn car may be OK.

Sorry, but that's not a logo. That's a flier. A very nice looking flier, to be sure, but a flier.

A logo is a compact and simple icon that is scalable and can easily be used in multiple applications such as business forms, shirts, advertisements, fliers, etc.

What you've got there is way too complex, and way too stylized to be versatile. It won't scale well nor will it look good in black and white line-art -- both of which are things you need to take into consideration.

:iagree:

If you use the Autogeek logo of Ivan in a car as an example, it's small and simple and can be scaled easily. Works in many situations.

Maybe you want something with the front half of that car in your post and put a few words around it.

Hm i really like the globe, the original had just a simple look behind it the globe as seen here:

Then i just had the writing sort of circling the globe at the top saying "Windows And Wheels Detailing" and "A World Beyond the Wax" at the bottom. Think if maybe i skipped the car...but maybe put a set of headlights sort faded in the background on either side of the earth...so you can kind of image that a car is behind the globe but don't actually see it...you just see the faded image of headlights....that would be pretty simple wouldn't it? Only a few colors...unique and not a lot going on.

Thoughts?

I think it looks better simple. Maybe if you trimmed around the edges so the globe with the shining light behind it being the entire logo background, then just a car outline or the headlights in the middle of the globe/ down the bottom where it's black.

If I was any good at photoshop I'd mock up a quick image of what I mean..... but I'm no good so I'll just have to describe haha.

You're still thinking too complex; in order for something to be versatile and translate well it needs to not have any elements that would be completely lost in translation if you were to make it into a line drawing.

I haven't shown this anywhere on any forum yet, but I'm currently re-tooling my own business' image and worked with a professional graphic artist to create a new logo; here's a sneak peek at what I'm going to be using:

CCH_logo_car_color_72rgb.jpg

Nice and simple, no "faded stuff in the background," easy to scale. We also have a version with just the text (no car) that can be used on business forms and other items where there's a need to save space.

Not that there's anything wrong with using something like the globe image you started with, as you can still translate that into line-art if you need to, but the subtleties you're talking about doing still won't translate well. Think *SIMPLE* and you'll have a much better result. :xyxthumbs:

Even though my input on this Logo picture involves your Business' name:

This leaves me with an empty feeling...Like, If I was interested in getting my car detailed by you,

It puts me in a spot where I'd feel compelled to have to ask: "UH, do you clean-up other parts of cars besides wheels and windows?

IMO...Not a good thing. How would you go about filling this void on this Logo?

Besides the above mentioned uncertainty, (and re-scaling the car for a line-drawing), this could become: very nice....attention-grabbing!

:)

So you're thinking ditch the globe or ditch the lights and just do the globe and writing? Yours looks nice, i like it...i just wanted something a little different and wanted to incorporate a car in it somehow or another is all.

I've only had one person ask that so far...a rather old person lol..and i believe they were 1/2 joking. I think the 'detailing' part would eliminate any questino about that, and plus we've gotten a pretty good reputation so a lot of people know of us already. Not HUGE but...growing. So i'm not changing my company name if thats what you're suggesting...but i understand your point and wondered about it some also...but so far have not had an issue with it. Do you have ideas in how to close that void in the logo and not complicate it?
